Also we have a high profile manager, and a ambitious owner. If I was him I'd come here and improve rather than go to a top 6 club and warm the bench or even worse warm the training pitch bench like Danny Drinkwater. Don't waste your talent pal sign on that dotted line lad. Even at 40mill would be a investment
tickler28 Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 As soon as I knew we had agreed a loan for him I was left open mouthed because I knew he was a quality player....I pray this is not a cameo but I just fear he will have offers from bigger clubs than us and may take them.

What Tielemans shows is that loaning players before buying could be a smart way to operate. OK you do pay more if the player works out but you potentially save much more over having to pay wages and downgrade the transfer value on a flop. Most clubs won’t loan their top players out though mate, same way we wouldn’t have wanted to loan Kante and Mahrez to Chelsea and Man City
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 There is reason it was a loan, either Monaco, him or in fact both wanted to keep their options open. Not our mistake, just the situation. The mistake will be not securing the perm now if there's even the slightest hope of him agreeing.
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 Can we sign him? I just hope he loves it here enough for him to prefer us over the other clubs who are bound to be after him.
Hammo Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 Let's enjoy him while he's here. ...and if he signs, then bloody brilliant! It's pointless speculating about his future at this stage but one thing is for certain - the big clubs know all about him and have done for years, since he won the Belgian title with Anderlecht in his teens. I watched him boss Belgium's midfield against Russia the other day in the same way he ran the show for us v Bournemouth. He is seriously hot property but the big thing in our favour is that he looks like he loves it here. But let's wait and see and, like I said, enjoy watching him in a Leicester shirt for the next six games... at least.
Dahnsouff Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 A lot depends on how intent he is on being an ever present, i.e.; playing pretty much every game. He would certainly get that here, doubtful at Manu, if the Spurs thing is true, that may be practical if Eriksen leaves. Hopeful he chooses after an enjoyable and progressive expierience here on loan and is not swayed by "large club” / agent pressure
Wizerud Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 You'd think with the amount of business we've done with Monaco the last few years we'd be in the box seat for this transfer. The fact they're test driving Silva at the same time can only be good. It's gonna depend on Youri, what his ambitions are. He seems like a very laid-back bloke. Does he want to go to a ready-made top 4 team where he'll likely be in and out of the first 11 a la Mahrez? Or does he want to be a key component of a team becoming established in the top 6 and playing in Europe every year, being given unconditional support every week by the fans and becoming a club legend on the way? What sounds more exciting, Youri?
Strokes Posted 31 March 2019 Posted 31 March 2019 I just don’t see how we can be in with a chance of signing this kid, he would look mustard in any team. I’m just going to enjoy this time because a permanent move is a pipe dream in my opinion.

Its not really a pipe dream, he is with us now and enjoying his football something which can't be guaranteed elsewhere Silva is doing well at Monaco, we have the money even if we have to fund it by selling Maguire... the player is still young and knows he could develop here for a year or two before his next big move. I think we have a better chance than anyone of getting his signature tbf

I really don’t think us having Silva will hold any weight, if the big clubs come in for him. It’s not just about having the funds, it’s who will be our competition for his signature that will decide this and I’ll be extremely (but pleasantly) surprised, if we are the most attractive option he has in the summer.

Leicester face the prospect of needing to break their transfer record to sign Youri Tielemans this summer after being quoted €45million (£40m) by Monaco. That was the price the French side insisted on in January when Leicester discussed the possibility of securing Tielemans on a loan with a view to a permanent deal, Sportsmail can reveal. Leicester declined that option in the end, instead bringing in Tielemans on a purely temporary basis to see how the 21-year-old took to life in the Premier League That was the gamble, the club didn’t take it. So £40m was when he was deemed a flop in January. 4 months later and he is earning rave reviews for his performances in one of the toughest leagues in the world. No more £40m that’s for sure
ozleicester Posted 1 April 2019 Posted 1 April 2019 If we finish 7th.... who is bigger that will offer 90 mins every week?

Jazzy_Jeff Posted 1 April 2019 Posted 1 April 2019 The equivalent for me would be to take a 6 month trial at a company in my industry and if I got on the with the people there, saw a positive future with opportunities to progress my career further and enjoyed what I did would I swap that for going somewhere completely different on the same terms? Definitely not. If we can offer him terms he’s happy with I think he’ll join.

So in hindsight yes £40m does look a snip but then it also would have been a big amount of money to spend on a youngster yet. We could have ended up in another Musa/Slimani/Iheanacho situation where they underperform despite a big price tag. Plus the loan deal was dependent on Silva going the other way?

AyewJoking Posted 1 April 2019 Posted 1 April 2019 I doubt we will sign him permanently and i hope we already know his intentions so we dont dick around in the summer. We have seen a player of his skill set transform our midfield and we need a replacement in the likely event he dosent sign.

I suppose what we should have tried to agree if the £40m was the price quoted in January was that we had the option to sign him for that price in the summer. Had he done a Musa/Slimani/Iheanacho then he went back there or if he did what he is doing now then we find the dough somehow and have one of the most exciting young players in the world. I do worry we are going to miss out, I think Monaco will play silly beggars. Our best chance is either securing a deal before the end of the season, or if they play hardball too much and piss a lot of other clubs off and then we get him towards the end of the window but that isn't ideal as it's the most crucial position in our team that needs filling and will also take up the majority of our transfer budget.
