Envious of the younger supporters, to be honest.

Imagine having Vardy as your first footballing hero...

Lineker wasn't a bad one tbf, but yeah I get what you saying.

Vardy needs a statue, right outside the ground, where everyone has to walk past it.

Muzzy was mine and no shame in that either, both he and Lineker were iconic players for the club, and Lineker beyond.

But from 2004 for a while it was tough to get a genuine hero- Vardy comes along and becomes huge in the game, let alone Leicester.

Think back to when he first started taking penalties for us.

It was almost because there was no one else to take them and almost felt like he was reluctantly stepping up. He openly said he used to just smash them and hope.

Then look at those two penalties today. That’s Vardy though - works hard and just gets better and better at what he does. None of us had really seen Vardy take penalties like that until today and at 33 he still steps up and surprises you with a level you didn’t know he had.

In terms of natural ability there’s a debate to be had, but in terms of all round accomplishment and what he’s given to us over such a prolonged period, he’s absolutely our GOAT.

Thought this with that first rolled finish today. Cultured.

He said after the game he practices penalties the day before and had been banging them in that side so was well versed in doing what he did today!

That 2nd one was just perfect. Power and precision. Most penalties in to the side netting keepers won't save, even if they do end up diving the right way.

Better than Drogba, comparable to van Nistelrooy... and he’s one of our own!

The other half will be disappointed if he manages to overtake Wrighty, (113) (more games for Vardy though) but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make :D

Doesn’t even apply to younger supporters. Was literally an audible gasp in the pub when he went down after that collision with Johnston.

Can only imagine it was like the scene in some cafe on a Sunday afternoon in sunny Naples circa 1989 when Maradona would go down injured

He's just getting more smarter in his play year on year. He will play at this level till he's 36. He doesn't move around too much so doesn't use up too much energy, but his positional play is outstanding - he knows when to make those runs and is explosive and accelerates really fast off the spot.

I don't necessarily think he's ever been lightning quick, it's just his acceleration and reaction times, that make it seem that way imo, coupled with the fact that he rarely needs a second chance.

Shows the ineptitude of every England manager doesn’t it. Shoving him out on the wings or preferring others over and above him (I don’t mean Kane). One of the most lethal strikers about and not once did they ever look to play to his strengths.

What a legend.
