spacemunky Posted 17 June 2019 Posted 17 June 2019 In regards to "best" vs "favourite", I prefer to go with favourite when it comes to the arts. How is any movie the "best"? If you say favourite, no one can argue with you. It's what you like and enjoy. Some people might think you have terrible taste or that you are a moron, but you still can't argue with what someone says is their "favourite". My favourites are the ones I can watch again and again: The Matrix The Big Lebowski Rushmore Blade Runner Fargo Taxi Driver Aliens The Usual Suspects Withnail & I Trainspotting

For example: even though the first film ever to be released in colour, The Wizard of Oz, is around nearly 90 years old now and is obviously not a popular genre film in its genre anymore, still sees that film as a film that started all the coloured movie boom that greatly exists now. Wouldn't ever disagree with anyone's pick of their favourite movie, as its entirely subjective... but claiming The Wizard of Oz to be the first colour film is just wildly inaccurate. It wasn't even the first film to be made using Technicolor.
RumbleFox Posted 17 June 2019 Posted 17 June 2019 Too many and too many variables for me. Some of the films that I enjoyed the most at the time I couldn't watch again but their impact that first time was amazing. Having said that, a few that stick with me..... Jurassic Park Rumble Fish (obviously) Jaws Alien Fistful of Dollars It's a Wonderful Life Muppets Christmas Carol Silence of the Lambs Loads more but brain dead.

After 5 minutes I was completely hooked again and watched the whole thing. Such a great film.

Gubbins Posted 17 June 2019 Posted 17 June 2019 Aliens and Raiders of the Lost Ark. Whether they are the greatest ever is debatable but they are both perfect at what they set out to achieve and nothing you could add or remove would improve them.
Spiritwalker Posted 17 June 2019 Posted 17 June 2019 Probably Godfather 2 although 1 and 3 were also superb. Can't believe nobody has mentioned The Good,The Bad and The Ugly.

yorkie1999 Posted 17 June 2019 Posted 17 June 2019 Pulp friction closely followed by gangbangs of New York
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 17 June 2019 Posted 17 June 2019 Not saying it's the greatest movie of all time, but Shaun Of The Dead is a bloody great movie. Funny and very cleverly written. You notice something new you hadn't noticed before every time you watch it.
Heathrow fox Posted 17 June 2019 Posted 17 June 2019 Anything from the eighties with Eddie Murphy in it (except the Golden Child) and carry on camping
