If you're talking classics, then IMO The Godfather stands out as having zero weaknesses in terms of acting, writing or cinematography.

Suppose it depends really on how you personally perceive what 'greatest' means for this industry.

 

For example: even though the first film ever to be released in colour, The Wizard of Oz, is around nearly 90 years old now and is obviously not a popular genre film in its genre anymore, still sees that film as a film that started all the coloured movie boom that greatly exists now.

 

But, anyway:
