Guest seanfox778 Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 What a frustrating watch! Baffling how Gray was picked to start that game.
ousefox Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 I'm absolutely fuming at today. Massive chance to show some intent. We have a better team than United and Brendan got it completely wrong. The minute the team was announced you could see where it was going. Absurd decision to play 2 CDMs and maddison out wide. Low and behold we go 4141 at half time and then finally get an acceptable starting 11 and formation on 67 minutes. Soyuncu is going to make little mistakes like that at this time in his career so I can't blame him. Gray tried hard but is not good enough. I'm so angry as we genuinely have a chance at top 4/6 and we're going to throw it away if Brendan is maintains this stubbornness. I think he's a great manager but he has nobody but himself to blame today. Martin Atkinson is an absolute tool.
Tuna Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Turned up half beaten already with a team like that. Why change it from the Bournemouth game? United were crap and there for the taking. Game over after 7 minutes. Rodgers needs to learn from this but he wont. We'll turn up the same way against Spurs and get beaten again. So bloody disappointing.
Guest MattP Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 First game Rodgers really got it wrong - terrible selection and I'd love to know the reason Gray was selected. Shockers from Ricardo and Gray, Soyuncu braindead - thought Tielemans was tremendous though. Maddison also good but needs support with him.
murphy Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 This is a weak United team by their standards but still finished 14 points ahead of us last season. The trouble is that so many of you seemed to believe that we only needed to turn up to get three points today. Back down to earth.
Jattdogg Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Blame me, didnt have my customary in game wank.
KingKoala Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Frustrating but it's Leicester at OT after all. Hopefully we are not going to see Gray in the league game anymore.
GingerrrFox Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 It’s time Brendan makes the decision between Hamza and Ndidi. Go back to playing 4-1-4-1 and ****ing attack teams with Maddison and Tielemans in the middle with Barnes and Albrighton/Perez out wide.
Unabomber Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 We should not be losing against that Man U team no question. Horrible loss and Rodgers has some serious explaining to do here. Unacceptable performance, can’t recall more than 1 attempt on target.
Farrington fox Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Don’t fancy spuds next week either, and to make matters worse it’s that dreaded 12.30 ko.
don_danbury Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Just now, pSinatra said: 0-0 would have been a fair result that would've got puel horny
Deeg67 Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Hard to overstate how dismal this was. Coming in with 3 points winnable and getting none is bad, yes. But this was a chance to show we belonged in the conversation as a legit power team in the PL, and Rodgers totally flubbed it - though to be fair, so did the players. The formation was terrible - it hasn't worked once all season and he keeps going back to it. United really had nothing - diving, chippy fouling, time wasting - they looked like the mediocre side they are. But we acted like they were still a power and we were the mediocrity. Which based on that performance, we are. What's really concerning is that apart from a decent 10-minute stretch after Rodgers finally changed the formation, there was no urgency on our side. This was a team that looked like they couldn't be bothered, in a huge opportunity for a statement game. Altogether depressing on every level.
fox_up_north Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Pretty shit all around. Gray needs to go. Championship player and we're losing money off him. Nice to see the Manchester Drama School get some people on the pitch too
ARM1968 Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 We have to go into every single game expecting to win and playing like we will. There are few teams who can beat us. Utd were lucky and we gave them way too much respect. They deserve none. BRENDAN - man the fuch up!!!
purpleronnie Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Even with their worst side in many years we just can't beat them at OT, I'm always glad when this fixtures out the way.
That_Dude Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Worst of it, the media just won't shut up about it and hail their team spirit as well as the hobbit's tactical genius.
lcfcdamo Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 1 of the worse ref performance I've ever saw every little thing went there way and how McTominay didn't get booked in that game is amazing he made about 10 fouls then at the end sat on the ball and still no booking shocking ref! Utd absolute shit we were the better side easy even if we still didn't play that well
coolhandfox Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Rogers played the name rather than the teamsheet! If he wants to play two DM, he has to sacrifice YT and keep the balance of the side. A lack of investment in attacking area has left us short of attacking quality in wide areas!
sdb Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Utterly frustrating. We play a mediocre side. Line up as if we're playing a top side and need to play safe. Dozey on the ball, second to every loose pass, isolated striker, allow them into the game with a soft pen and then play like it's 0-0 for an hour. BR needs to stop trying to be so clever with his line ups. Most creative player out of position, full backs expected to do most of our attacking when one can't cross and the other has to mark the quickest player in the league. And to make it worse we had to wait two weeks for it.
bfox Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Rodgers had plenty of time to think about this one, but got it wrong! This time we weren't good enough to take something away from the game. We lost nearly every 50/50 in the first 20 - What does it take for us to start a game with real intent and speed? Far to conservative from a manager who I wrongly thought has an attack-first mentality. I do believe he is reactive enough to not play like that again next week so let's wait and see! A complete shit show
soxfan3247 Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Have we scored with two CDMs on the field?
Matt Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 ****ed off with that. Sick and tired of negative possession based football not just us, modern football in general. Nobody, absolutely nobody should be scared of going to Old Trafford in this day and age, we were.
Innovindil Posted 14 September 2019 Posted 14 September 2019 Rodgers needs to get this 2 cdm's vs "big teams" out of his head right now. And gray needs to move on. How he's starting in front of Barnes and Albrighton I'll never be able to work out.
