His post match comments he even admitted he should have started Hamza.

Hamza is not the same as Wilf, he is much more attack minded so he and Wilf could be fine together . He is a replacement for Tielmans if anybody. Tielmans needs a rest its week after week now. Just because he cost 35m. he cannot be immune from dropping.

Nothing won or lost tonight. They were always going to come here and put ten men behind the ball and defend. Credit them, they had a chance and they took it, and defended well. However, I saw nothing that worries me of them going forward. They will have to attack us in the second leg on their own pitch, and that should allow us to hit them on the counter. Wilf is a big loss to this side, and Hamza has to start on Saturday. We lacked a bit of grit and someone to put their foot in first half. The creative players were stuck between a rock and a hard place. The biggest obstacles second leg will be ourselves and the atmosphere at Villa Park. Overcome those, and Wembley is still on. Believe 🦊💙

Echo everything everyone has said about Chris Kavanagh. He is the absolute pits, the worst ref in the Premier League by a country mile, so crap he can make Craig Pawson look almost competent in comparison.

How can he give Grealish all those free kicks, and Mane that penalty at Anfield, yet send Maddison off for diving against Brighton last season? Clearly only punishes diving if it's a Leicester player, otherwise he rewards it handsomely.

How can he book a player for timewasting, spend ages pointing at his wrist, then only add on 3 minutes onto a half riddled with timewasting which featured 6 subs and a goal? Clearly when he was pointing at his wrist, he was too stupid to realise what the ticky round thing he was wearing on it was for.

Add the Rob Holding handball into the mix, and Ndidi's farcical sending off vs Brighton 2 seasons ago (plus the Brighton pen he gave, following an obvious dive, quelle surprise) and it all adds up to either he's the shittest ref around, or actively trying to bias games against us. Either way, he should be packed off to the job centre, as he's got no business refereeing at this, or any level, really.

Outrageous this one. Ricardo was clean through to run at their box and the guy just took him out...

Have to say, how hard does Ricky P have to try to win a free kick? I would not be surprised to find out he's our most fouled player after Maddison, but it never gets given!

Sadly he’s now a referee in the Europa League. He failed to a give a stonewall penalty for Watford at Spurs this season additionally (that’s without the bias). He’s just shit

Sian Massey has generally proved herself to be really good at offside. Well she must have forgot about needing to signal throw-ins because they was a moment where the ball actually bounced off the pitch but she didn’t signal

You haven't even mentioned the booking for Vardy when replays showed it was clearly not a foul. Awful ref.

Kavanagh is really shit and incosistent isn't he....? How can Grealish get a freekick every single time he falls and Ricardo can't buy one for his life?

Fair play Villa. That was a decent parked bus that one. We need more quality from our main guys to penetrate busses like that.

He was shocking.

The added time that was wasted that he didn't add back on..

Was actually hilarious! One kid who had clearly had a few too many stood up and started a chant which was basically a mishmash of words. Then another guy thought he was a villa fan so stood up and told him to shut up. First guys mates all stand and give the "come on then" thinking he's a villa fan. They run down the stairs and the guy comes out from his row and all hell breaks loose. Basically they both thought the other were villa fans. :giggle:

Hmm not sure about this to be fair. Hamza is mainly a tackler as is Wilf and Wilf has actually been really good going forward this season. Not taking anything away from Hamza though, I think he's amazing at what he does

Not at our best collectively or individually.

They set up for a draw and got it, took their chance and knocked us out of our stride for the rest of the first half. We jabbed away at their defence when we should have been hitting them harder. Got the equaliser and instead of going for it took our foot off the gas. Frustrating but it’s technically only half time.

I don’t know but I just think we’ve changed into a team that seems to want to just control the game more and seize any opportunity that comes our way instead of fully going at teams.

I thought we played well and were unlucky. We seemed to have a lot of chances and get around there defence pretty effectively considering how deep they sat. Vardy had a number of chances first half where he was a little wide bit worked the keeper. Perez had a good chance first half to. Madison and vardy also had chances second half. A bit of a frustrating game, but that's what they were playing for, on another day I felt we would have won that game. Now we dust ourselves down and go again, quite capable of getting a result at their place (but so are they!).

Tonight was nothing different to what weve seen since Puel took over. We enjoy more possession and lack the killer thrust of a Liverpool or Man City.

Not a criticism as such as they are both outstanding teams but we kind of do the Aldi version of this.  The big difference is these teams get closer to your goal and often look stronger, we arrive 20 yards out and look like weve ran out of ideas.

Hamza was a nice impact tonight. Praet, Tielemens and Madders are great players but in these games they can almost lose themselves in the pack of midfield. He gave a new dimension.

Vardy looked lost second half, never really got him going. The big disappointment was Chilwell sadly. He looks shell shocked since Man City. Since then opposing teams seem to have targeted him and now heavily attack his side, doesn't seem to be a coincidence. Wasnt sure what his role was tonight and looked devoid of confidence when he had it. Difficult to know what to do as for me Fuchs is the better option currently, depending on system.

Villa should open up a touch more at their place so fingers crossed we can exploit the greater spaces. Confident well do the job. 👍

Genuinely bemused as to why we played the entire match with 3 centre backs against a team with no strikers and no inclination to attack. Surely we should have replaced one ie Fuchs with an attacking player at half time? In the second half they had every player within 40 yards of their own goal whilst we had our 3 CBs standing isolated on the halfway line with nothing to do.

This is an important point, why on earth did we stick with this system for 90 mins against a team who had zero interest in going forward? Rodgers is tactically shooting himself/us in the foot on occasions.

I think most of us would have called for Hamza in when the line-up was announced, that starting midfield had talented footballers in it but a lack of any real bite.

Surprised Brendan didn't change formation at half time and get some wingers to go at them, which I think would have freed up Maddison a little more in the final third. We didn't seem to pose enough questions despite having a fair few attempts, bit of an oxymoron but we seemed to be restricted to pot shots from closed down angles.

Kelechi took his goal really, really well. Thought Perez, Ricardo, Hamza were the picks.

The couple of times we've played Villa this season I've been astounded at how mucky they are. Second leg set to be a cracker.

Agree about Youri. It worried me that we got him on loan in the first place, can't help feeling he's coasting it at the moment.

We'll have to use Hamza as a Wilf replacement as Ndidi will be out for a while. Rogers said he should have started him tonight
