LOAN: ANDY KING JOINS FROM LEICESTER CITY!

Premier League winner arrives until the summer

- Huddersfield Town signs Andy King on loan
- Midfielder won the Premier League with Leicester City
- Comments from Manager Danny Cowley

Huddersfield Town has completed the signing of Wales international Andy King on loan from Premier League side Leicester City for the rest of the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship season!

The 31-year-old midfielder completed his medical at PPG Canalside and will be eligible for selection for Manager Danny Cowley for Saturday’s home game against Brentford.

King arrives with 400 competitive domestic games under his belt – three quarters of which have been in European competition, the Premier League and the Championship – as well as 50 caps for his country.

He’s also been a consistent source of goals from central midfield, netting 64 times in domestic football.

Alongside new Town teammate Danny Simpson, he was a big part of the Foxes side that won the Premier League title in 2016.

Andy will take squad number 29 during his time as a Terrier.

Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley commented:

“I’d like to begin by giving our thanks to Brendan Rodgers and Jon Rudkin at Leicester City for making Andy’s loan possible. They’ve gone out of their way to help a player who has done brilliantly for them, which says a lot both about their Club and the player.

“There’s a real alignment with what we’re striving to do and Andy’s goals for the rest of the season. We’re fighting to maintain our position in the league and Andy is incredibly determined to do well, as he’s out of contract soon and fighting to make the Wales squad for the upcoming European Championships.

“He’s a versatile, goal scoring midfielder who can play in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3, which is important to us too.

“Andy arrives here with great experience, and very importantly from a winning culture. Everyone you speak to in football about Andy has only the very best to say about him as a character. It was important that we brought some senior players here who can help drive the standards for our group. We have some talented younger footballers here who will benefit hugely from the substance that the senior players will bring.”
