Surely if Bournemouth goes down David Brooks is a no brainer, beats people with ease, top decision making, good passing, good shot on him, left footed. Perfect Mahrez replacement imo, and cheaper than a player like bailey who's all ability no footballing intelligence at the moment.

Edit: also carvalho is the Ghezzal of midfield, he's absolutely shocking not sure why people on this forum rate him.

Just watched Porto vs Sporting. Telles very emotional as he was subbed off and sat on the bench. Maybe he knows his time at Porto is coming to an end...

Why is football in Portugal played so late? The weather?

I would guess so - same as Spain's La Liga starting games at 8pm (9pm their time).

It gets ridiculously humid and hot in the day in their summers.

Don’t shoot me down too much as I know it’s unlikely our squad will look anything like this... but this would be serious squad depth and how I’d like us to improve.

GK - Kasper, Ward, Jakupovic

RB - Ricardo, Aarons

LB - Chilwell, Justin, Fuchs

CB - Evans, Soyuncu, Ake, Demiral, Morgan

CM - Ndidi, Tielemans, Carvalho, Praet,

RW - Benramah, Cantwell, Albrighton

CAM - Maddison, Perez

LW - Zaha, Barnes,

ST - Vardy, Edouard

Sell - Gray, James, Iheanacho, Slimani, Silva

Loan - Benkovic, Choudhoury, Dewsbury-Hall, Knight, Thomas, Hirst.

If Rodgers is still in charge I’d move on the people I put in sell for the sake of there own careers. Even though I wouldn’t be against any of them staying and fighting for a place if they wanted. In my opinion Choudhoury could do with a season on loan being a regular starter for a team batting relegation. Then come back as a potential Ndidi replacement next season if we get a massive offer. Same with Benkovic one more season at hopefully a premier league side and then come back and replace an ageing Evans. The other four youngsters really need championship loans for a season as they’re our better prospects. There’s probably two or three more youngsters who could do with loan lower than the championship but couldn’t think of any.

Make it Morgan’s, Fuchs and Albrightons farewell season for us. Bit time players.

Aarons, Ake, Demiral, Carvalho, Benrahma, Cantwell, Zaha and Edouard would cost the best part of £200m - possibly even more. Demiral was around £35m in Jan, Ake and Zaha were both talked about with £60-70m+ asking prices etc. That's ridiculous levels of spending we'd never see even if we weren't in the middle of a period of uncertainty.

We'll bring in one 'big' player - probably not from that list - and a couple of cheaper squad options/players with potential, and thats it. Maybe a second bigger signing if someone like Chilwell gets sold for >£50m. A £50m net spend incl. a couple of outgoings is about the best we can hope for.

I'd try and bring in a marquee winger (someone like Bailey would be great, but not sure we could attract him even with CL football), a top-draw left back (Tagliafico? Telles? Both probably too ambitious) and a couple low-key signings like Bennett to pad out the squad. Maybe Fraser if his wage demands aren't too ridiculous. Total spend somewhere around £75m, with Chilwell sold for (probably under) £50m and saying goodbye to Silva/Slimani to make the net spend close to £30m. Plus promote a few youth players (KDH/Hirst to make the matchday squads and get a few minutes with the new 5sub rule) and bed them in. I imagine we'll all be fairly disappointed with this window though - I just can't see us spending the amount needed to genuinely improve, instead just bringing in a few average players at a similar level to what we already have.

A quality winger and a leftback are a must.

Jay Dasilva, young left back that Bristol City picked up from the Chelsea academy is worth a good look at.

With European football assured we've got to seriously bulk up the squad, looking at the lineup today was terrifying and we are lucky our club captain stepped up to the plate and that out teenage debutant handled the pressure. I think we need one more CB, Full-back, Midfielder, Wide Forward and Forward to be honest!

People mock some of the names we've been linked to such as Lallana, Castagne, etc, but today those sort of players would have been invaluable. Bennet for as mocked as he is on here has now played a number of games for us and has done a solid job. He's not going to set the world alight but 5m for him is IMO a no-brainer.

With next season starting later than usual and a lack of pre-season I also think there will be an inevitable fixture pile-up and we might get another sequence of games like we've had since the restart when there is very little rest period and the games come thick and fast. We already know the Christmas period is like this already. So whilst I'd really like a world class wide forward to come into the first team, if we picked up 4-5 good solid players that can do a job, I think I'd be very happy.

If Chilwell doesn't go I think we'll be alright for full backs now, as it'll be Chilwell, Thomas, Ricardo and Justin. Albrighton can jump in at wing back if needed. This is obviously if the club deem Thomas good enough, he certainly looked it today but it's only one game after all.

Bennett for me purely depends on the formations we're going to use, if it's gonna be 3 at the back a few times, then we should probably sign him purely for a squad player. A lot of this will depend on Benko though, is he going out on loan again or will he stay and occupy a spot on the bench? If so we might not need to sign another young CB and just sign Bennett.

I think I'd actually keep Gray aswell for another season (yes I can't believe I'm saying that), think we'll only be able to afford one winger so we may as well make it a class one and use Gray from the bench still with the occasional start.

I think this summer we need to either sell Gray or give him a new contract as he only has 1 year left, I imagine it could depend on whether or not we go out and sign a new winger

I’d look at someone who contributes to goals through set pieces as we seem to struggle atm, Whether it be taking corners or whipping free kicks... but perhaps if benkovic comes back a new man some height will solve the problem?

Said before, as have others, that we need to improve in five positions if we're realistically going to challenge the big 6 again next season. But as @henrik_62 has said, I can't see us signing 5 or 6 players in one window, especially in the current environment and what that will have meant for our finances.

The MUST signs are a right sided wide forward to contribute goals and assists (probably the marquee signing of the window), another CM for competition and rotation, and another CB, left-footed prefrably (ditto).

I'd be happy with that, happier still if you added Lallana for forward and wide options. But I think an Edouard or a Jovic may be a window or two away.

I’d love to see us entice Jack Grealish here. Join his good ‘mates’ Gray, Madders and Chilly (if he stays). He’ll be off somewhere once Villa are relegated

Hopefully his price more realistic if relegated too as opposed to the 60/70 mill quoted at times! £30 million if we have to spend I’d go and get him!

If we want to Play 343 and to improve the 11 i think we would need;

A quality forward/striker - Odsonne Edouard

Winger/Attacking Wide - Said Benrahma

New Quality Versitile Centre back - Which not my area of expertise but someone like that Merih Demiral

Thats Based on Chilwell and Ricardo being our wingback or Chilwell replacement. The lads who drop out the team then become the squad players fighting for a place.

It’s been said hundreds of times and agreed and rejected equally but I watched Zaha v Utd yesterday and thought yeah, 70 million for Chilwell and get Zaha signed up on a 4 year contract. Yeah, all day long.

It certainly would relieve the pressure off Vardy for box tumble acquired penalties.

He could drive home pissed from Leics too in a much shorter time than say Cheshire.

Well they seem prepared looking at this. Hope we get our business done quickly.

Thought the lad Thomas looked very good last night, very accomplished for one so young.

Ibrahima Diallo. Another gem from France.

i wouldnt be surprised if we went back in for him tbh since we tried to get him in January, only 21, and looks to have the talent to get better, plus the fact Mendy is probably on the way out too.

and theres been a reported agreement that between the player and his club that he can leave if they get the right bid, which was reported to be around £20mil

would be a good buy imo

Don't be surprised if one of our three/four signings is a loan signing. It's going to be a window with not a lot of cash being spent, except by the usual UEFA-approved suspects!
