I suppose with FA Cup, Europa League, Premier League & times we decide to play 5 at the back, he’ll still get plenty of opportunities, I just can’t see how he dislodges Evans & Soyuncu at the minute when we play 433. The idea is to have 3 top notch Centre Backs, so it is possible to rest them all at given times, and not run the current duo into the ground, Evans in particular. There's no point getting someone less good as the third when we will play them all & sometimes use all 3 at the same time, and are trying to plan for this season and beyond. People are quick to blame the debacle earlier this year solely on BR - that's unfair, there were many factors, one of which was lack of quality in depth. This addresses that issue. Collymore Posted 29 September 2020 Share Posted 29 September 2020 (edited) I'm pretty sure it was Evans that some stats were dug out where he was the lowest in the league for things like last ditch tackles and recoveries etc... When analysed further it turned out it was because he was so bloody good he never found himself in the position where he needed to do those things. Have no clue how good this guy is but our scouts know how to pick a young player. Imagine if Benko gets over his injury problems; that’s soy, Evans, Fofana and Benko as CB choice. A central midfield choice of Praet, Youri and Madders. A DM choice of Wilf, Mendy and Hamza. Full backs choice of Riccy, Tim, Justin and Thomas developing.
