I don't misunderstand. I know all that. I assumed the question was asking what a rating of 88 means in terms of current player ability, as looking at another player with a potential of 88 doesn't tell you very much.

I mentioned Potential ratings and was asked how that compared to other players so obviously thought he meant potential comparisons not overall ratings. There's no point comparing 88 rated players who are in their 30s to 19 year olds with 88 Potential. Anyway, bottom line he must be fairly decent if Barca wanted him.

A potential rating is just someone guessing at how a player will turn out - eventual current rating. That's all it is. Comparing two players with the same potential just tells you someone is guessing they'll both turn out to be as good as each other. That's twice the guesswork.

What do you mean there's no point comparing 88 rated players who are in their 30s to 19 year olds with 88 Potential? You can't be serious. That tells you so much more. That tells you exactly how good they're guessing the young player will turn out! That's so much more helpful.

Leicester City have had ‘three meetings’ to try and convince club over transfer

Earlier this week, The Guardian reported Leicester City are interested in Barcelona’s Francisco Trincão.

It was explained the Foxes’ idea is to take the forward on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy.

On Wednesday, Mundo Deportivo reported the La Liga winners have ‘no intention’ of accepting the English club’s offer for the 20-year-old.

The Blaugrana agreed a deal with SC Braga for the Portugal U21 international in January, with the intention of him moving in the summer.

Atalanta have also joined Brendan Rodgers’ side in chasing the Portugal U21 international.

Journalist Miguel Rico, writing for the last page of Mundo Deportivo, gives a background about Leicester and Atalanta interest in the attacker.

He claims the interest is ‘so constant’ that Leicester have already had ‘three meetings’ with Barcelona. This was done with the intention of ‘trying to change’ the Catalan club’s mind on Trincão.

Trincão is unlikely to leave the Spanish giants this summer after Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu ruled out a transfer.

“He’s is not for sale. Neither Pedri, nor Ansu, nor Ter Stegen, nor Riqui Puig, nor Araujo … These young players are not for sale. We are creating a new generation for the future,”Bartomeu told beIN Sports, as relayed by Marca.

Leicester City RW transfer window summed up.

Spend the whole summer chasing Trincao. Other top attainable targets (Benhrama, Brooks, Tsygankov) move to rival clubs. Trincao deal falls through or gets hijacked by Arsenal. Out of the blue we announce Townsend.

Welcome to Leicester Andros

LCFC:

Barca: Hello?

No way they'd agree to three meetings if they have zero desire to sell.

Exactly plus they have a track record of selling players they said they never would.

There's lots of moving parts. I bet if they can offload Coutinho, Rakitic, Braithwaite (who they just signed!) and maybe even Suarez they will look to keep him. If those deals can't be done they need cash from somewhere.

It's still early in the window and if the player is our number 1 target then why not stick it out? We didn't budge on price for Maguire and got what we wanted. Negotiations are far from straightforward.

Trincao is probably their most saleable asset at this moment in time. Nobody with any money will want Coutinho, Dembele or Rakitic, and if they do it will be on a loan where the fee is unlikely to be very big.

Barca know that they have a guaranteed €20m profit sat waiting for them, on a player that they don't know is any good. They do know that Messi, Suarez, Griezmann, Dembele, Fati and Pedri are all decent to world class in his position, and they supposedly want Lautaro Martinez too.

The player isn't going to get games at Barcelona. To me it makes sense for all parties for a deal to be done.

If we are stuck in the same place as we were last season because Barca jerked us around till the end of the window. Then I better not hear any complaints about Perez on the right wing. :)  In other words I hope there are more attackers in the pipeline.
