MPH Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 can see a player going their way... Gray? didn’t they want him once?
Jon the Hat Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 Just now, Attywolf said: Didn't Burnley say tarkowski was £50m ? He has a release clause at that value it seems. Their position seems to be we are not selling, over to you if you want to pay the clause. For them its a lof of money if the player says he won;t sign a new deal with less than 2 years to run.

You get 4 to 5 years of this fella being a good starting centre back, then that in itself brings its own value. 7
moore_94 Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 (edited) **The actual buy-out clause in his contract is not relevant to us** The clause only applies to clubs in the North-West Burnley are probably still using it as a barometer for how much they want but we probably feel we can get him for less Edited 25 September 2020 by moore_94 1
Ric Flair Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 Would rather Fofana but if we can't get that deal done then I'd be happy with this. He's a bloody good defender. 1
The People's Hero Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 Whilst Fofana quietly slips in through the back door. Ooo-err!
Torten Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 Obvious that we’re gonna do a Benkovic/Soy double deal for Tarkowski and Fofana. 👀
rachhere Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 It's less exciting, but its the far safer option. I know it's a lot of money, but I do think we need to spend big here to make sure we get in a good quality defender to take the pressure off Jonny and Cags, otherwise all the other hard work we have done with getting in international quality players could be completely in vain.
The People's Hero Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 JT is the 'bona fide hustler' MIA did that catchy banger about.
floz Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 Burnley been trying to sign Joe Worrall this week. Replacement?

Four or five seasons in football is a long time. If we are much closer to/or belong to the top 4 by that time we will be in a different space, with more pulling power and more financial resources. Will also be nice to call St Etienne's bluff. As others have said if Wes Jr is that good why are bigger and richer clubs not making some noise. 1

Presumably if we agreed on that basis they would be more open to spreading out the payments as well.
The People's Hero Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 Who said both and 3 at the back? Wasn't me, was it? 1
StriderHiryu Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 I feel like Tarkowski would be another Evans. IE a signing that comes in and hits the ground running right away, improving us now and adding to squad depth. If we got him for less than half of what we paid for Maguire, that would be decent business. 3

A very very expensive short term fix. No sell on value and not the quickest. Would much prefer little Wes. 2

st albans fox Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 (edited) Odd - we don’t usually publicise stuff and if JP is reporting it then it’s with the club’s approval ..... so why would we stick this into the public domain. ??? this is a tweet that little wes won’t be ‘liking’! Edited 25 September 2020 by st albans fox 1
majaco Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 So.... either Burnley or St Etienne stand to get many pounds. Then, the other won't. Or we offer more for one.... Who will blink first? (Or next)
The People's Hero Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 Tarks would be awesome; but I reckon he's £10-15mn next summer. Not hanging about there is he? 2

Jakemoore Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 This is a deal that makes a lot of sense. He’s proven premier league quality. Knows the league well and can step in and out of the 11 without any issue. Our defence was amongst the best in the league last year until they all got injured/suspended. If it’s £40m then just pay it. He guarantees us another quality CB to add to the two we already have. This will enable us to rotate a CB once the European games start!

theessexfox Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 Who starts out of him, Evans and Soy? Presuming that we don’t shift to 3 at the back.
Silva Fox Posted 25 September 2020 Posted 25 September 2020 I'm basically ok with this although it's looking increasingly like we should have held out for more for Chilwell. 1
