A few have already said it, but he did play like the Kante replacement we thought we were getting when he signed. 
 

I’ve always thought he should have been given more opportunities. Usually just steady and reliable, but today he was spectacular

What people forget is that we were in for Pappy at the same time as Kante. When he left the following season, we renewed our interest.

Last two starts he has been our best player on the pitch imo. Today and vs Walsall. Though maybe that is doing nacho a disservice today, he was excellent too.

Make no bones about it. He was utterly sensational today. Goal aside, he was everywhere and put one heck of a shift in. An astonish game for him and wish to see more of this please. Gave the ball away a few times but each time the team pressed back. Never seen him like it.

Neither…One can’t (FT) make the same mistake like one did with this guy..

Ndidi when fit will come good..Why chase players away…


I for one always said Mendy has been one of our best players over 3-4 years.

Now the squad is just re-forming ,from old & new,why hastily push players away.

That arsenal game in 2016 ruined his chances of reaching his potential.

 

In fairness Ndidi was/is probably the better player and Mendy has 1 or 2 sublime displays a year but hasn't been consistent enough. 

 

Pleased for him today though. Magnificent throughout

the system we play does not afford a CDM to just sit there and protect the defense. We need movement and forward passes and midfielders who can at least run with the ball a bit. None of those are Ndidi‘s strengths.  He’s a much better CDM than Mendy, but Mendy suites this system way better than Ndidi does.

that was a Kante like performance today his best by far for us, he should certainly keep his place ahead of Youri next week

it would be foolish to change a team that just made the 5th placed team look very ordinary. Their defense was terrible but we suffocated them in midfield and up front.

 

 

But this is Rodgers we are talking about and he’ll change a team on a whim.

Agree,but systems cogs & needs are always turning & changing…

Ndidi also might return with different setting & aptitude,after seeing squad upgrades.

Dont forget players also evolve..lets see which direction Brendan plans for us,what goodies this helps Brendan display in this squad,plus later not for now,any descision on Tete,and other star players staying.
