Kasper Schmeichel

Recommended Posts

A goalkeeper isn’t there to make beautiful passes. That should be the job of the midfield. I’m old school and not bothered by a showboaty keeper who thinks he’s Pirlo. Kasper is one of the most reliable keepers in the league. It proves how good when we are all shocked when he makes a mistake.

sometimes his distribution goes wayward, however I wouldn’t want anyone else in between the sticks for us at the moment. We are very lucky to have him, as without we wouldn’t  have any of the success we’ve achieved in recent years.

Though saying that, Chris Weale comes close….or maybe not. Haha.

So for all the flack he gets on here for his distribution, 98% of short passes successful. The most accurate long passer of the goalkeepers on that list.

Too many people appear to want 100% accuracy and don’t look at the bigger picture. Still baffles me daily when I see Kasper getting any stick on here.

People have been hyping Danny ward up and he chipped it directly to an Italian forward the other day at one point.

Kasper should never get any stick he's been one of the 3 or 4 best keepers in the league since we've been in it.

Our fans just suck.

Invariably an error made by a goalkeeper often ends up as a goal whereas an outfield player can miss a tackle, pass to an opponent, shoot high wide and not very handsome and it doesn't matter. Whatever anyone says it is a specialised position and requires a great deal of skill. Folk ought to think on before they dish out their criticism and remember there isn't a player alive who has never made a mistake.

People realise that short passes for a keeper is probably 10 yards to a defender with nobody near them lol

The kind of thing I'd expect anyone with legs to be able to do

To be fair to kasper, i'd imagine the stats include is kick outs to left and right back that tend to go over the head of an oppo defender and have the tendency to go out of play for a throw.

That must be the longer passes, which explains the percentage. They're not simple passes, because you never want to underhit that lofted pass otherwise the opposition is clean through on goal lol

Tbh I like Kaspers desire to launch quick counter attacks, I don't have any issue with some going out of play if it's well intentioned. It's all being coached out of him though. Like you say, he either passes it to a cb. Or he chips it out wide to a full back/winger.

thing with those stats is I'd love to see how they were 4 years ago. His kicking was absolutely atrocious and he's clearly worked on it and is now pretty reliable.

It was seriously so poor about 6/7 years ago. Would literally kick the ball out from about 75% of dead ball situations lol

I wonder if we’ll keep Ward. This tournament so far seems to have raised his profile significantly. Cash in or keep? Although he might wish to leave if he gets offered a no 1 gig at a PL side.

I guess the question for us is how many years has Kasper got left as no 1 at a top / progressive club like the LCFC big dogs?

Think Iverson will be Kasper's successor in a couple of years time.

Why didn't he mention Kasper Dolberg to Top a year or two ago, I remember he did mention a certain Danish player from Southampton awhile back

Dolberg lived next to my parents when he played for Ajax.

He said his hero is Kasper and he’d love to play for us. In fairness, he didn’t turn up at the World Cup and Ajax didn’t really fancy him either…. However I can see him being a late bloomer, still plenty more to come from him!

I always rated Dolberg at Ajax, but his career took a real nosedive.

Pleased to see him score a couple today and hope he can fulfill that early potential.

He's been playing in a Nice side that has been massively inconsistent and in turmoil since Vieira was fired. Dolberg needs a good team around him, but if he has that he is lethal. Easily the best finisher in Denmark's squad.

Dolberg really isnt anywhere near good enough for us. Hed make a tremendous championship striker as he proved today though

He's similar to Kelechi. No way we should have two striker of that type.

There's not a chance he's just a Championship striker. Bit harsh on him. He's better than that.

I reckon with the right coaching and perhaps in the right team/set up he'd flourish in the Premier League.

I’m going to say it, and sit back and wait for the flack - Greatest Goalkeeper we’ve ever had:

I know, I know, Banks, Shilton, etc.

Great keepers have come and and gone here down the years but Kasper:

Won the Premier League

Won the FA Cup (With 2 or 3 world class saves)

Won the Championship

Saved that penalty to take us to the 1/4 final of the  Champions League.

The last minute equaliser against Yeovil - yea it was his goal.

That's without mentioning the off the field stuff he’s been through and done for us!

We have done some out of this world business over the last 10 years but, Kasper is in the conversation behind Vardy as the the next best.

In terms of what they have done for our club, I will happily argue he is the greatest!

10 years of being here with no drama in the media or no problems with his personal life. No moaning about moving on to bigger clubs or moaning about money. The guy is a proper true professional. What a legend

I don’t think it’s even remotely controversial to say. Kasper is up there with Vardy as the greatest Leicester player ever, we should have statues of both outside the stadium.

You just have to watch him on tv with Denmark and us and you can see the respect he commands from both players and staff. Unbelievable player and what a signing for the club. 10 years, that’s crazy. Love him

People will only appreciate how good he is when we try and replace him. Tricky job
