Burnley won't sell for less than £35mlll.

When you consider the gulf in class between McNeil and Berardi/Madueke and the player valuations being the same, its a ridiculous that this thread even exists!

Is this rumour my fault? As I said he looked decent during the first half yesterday? I haven’t seen enough of him to comment but pace if Barnes is not around would be useful and McNeil doesn’t have that.

Type of signing that would probably be good but just seems far too underwhelming.

I honestly don’t see the point in signing a player that isn’t an upgrade on albrighton.

Oh ffs did I miss the open day. Bollox hope they have another soon.

If we do this, it'll be the final nail in our coffin, the ultimate confirmation that we are absolutely appalling at signing wingers.

I'm starting to think we made a monkey paw wish to sign Riyad. He'd turn great and win us the league but we'd not sign another decent winger for a decade or something.

As spectacular as our judgement is everywhere else on the pitch, this would just be like the Perez signing. A display of a complete and total lack of imagination.

I'm quietly hopeful it's largely just bollocks anyway, Rodgers has made a point previously of saying we need wide players with a goal record, Berardi and Madueke, two very credible links to players we clearly have been interested in at very least are definitely right sided attackers that score goals. Mcneil is a left sided static crossing platform.

Plus he'd probably cost the same as Madueke.

He does what Burnley need him to. Hence he plays on the left side.

we need an inverted winger on the right.  To say he isn’t what we need because he plays on the left is just wrong. He’s left footed. We need a left footed winger. BUT he doesn’t have any real history of playing that inverted right side role so it would be an enormous punt.  fwiw, I wouldn’t be averse to seeing him here - he is more than capable of drifting inside and curling shots into the top corner. Teams would have to leave lots of room for a rampaging Ricky in the space left.

because of his age I don’t see him as a huge gamble at 30/35m. However, I can’t see Burnley selling unless they were offered 40m+ and that’s simply not happening.

Very good balanced post. Burnley fans I've spoken to say he's better when they play him as a roaming 10 which is essentially what perez does for us badly. He can also play as a wing back. Not sure where the idea he is slow has come from.

I like him. He's only 21, left footed, tracks back, good crosser of a ball and much better than what we currently have.

Old gravel voice is likely to put the kibosh on it anyway as he won't sell to the potential market leaders.

They'll never sell, it would pretty much guarantee relegation. I dont think he's a bad player, would rather us try to spend the sort of cash Burnley will want on someone better though.

The sort of people that would want Mcneil here are the same people that think we should sign an eight foot donkey because we need "a plan B", who moan about "all of that sideways passing" if our possession is ever over 35% and who legitimately preferred Marc Albrighton to Riyad Mahrez because Riyad didn't "run around enough."

Just a Rolls Royce Josh Low.

@Ric Flair I'd rather Calanoglu

YES!

Hed be ace for us. Sadly Burnley won't sell him for cheap and I can't see it happening.

....everyone talking about the price to bring him in, but no one talking about selling Barnes to achieve it!!!

Either that or I have misread that statement, but it makes no sense to me to bring him in (unless he can play on the right) and it would cost a great deal more than £40m to get his services.

We won't sell Barnes this season so I wouldn't worry about that.
