Seemed to be a lot of outstretched arm waving whilst setting up to defend corners and free kicks today (especially by the Starman). Felt more like they were assisting each other and taking responsibility.

Superb win today, particularly as we lost Evans so early on

Daka was a real menace up top, Maddison impressed again and defensively we looked so much better

Watched the goals again. Some absolutely beautiful team play and Youri’s 2nd was so satisfying. 
 

We’re still a bit shaky at the back but there was a much higher intensity from our boys doing the dirty work— they played with a lot of pride, which was wonderful to see.

I just despise Newcastle. Unforgivable sell-out to an appalling regime. And, yes, I know that we in the west hardly have the moral high-ground with our trade record with them. But this is football. It’s personal, and rationale argument has no place in this matter.

Looked much more solid and compact, they got behind us a few times but we mainly restricted them to half chances.

 

I like the subtle change of starting Maddison from the right and drifting in, giving us an extra player (KDH) in the middle. I know we have tried Maddison from the left and right before, but worked well today. Plus it’s a bit of a luxury anyway playing someone in the ‘10’ position, the likes of Mount, Foden, Grealish all have to play off the left or right so JM10 has to do the same for team balance.

 

Also loved Tielemans punching the air getting a throw in towards end of the first half. Could tell they were up for it today and it’s something we have missed this season, that sort of intensity and mentality

Ha, I nailed it for once. It was not very convincing all around, but then we created 3 beautiful goals and made it look like an easy win. 

 

Who was the blonde guy looking a bit like Conrad Logan's dad in the dugout today?

Summer signings: Lookman, Soumare, Vesty, Bertrand and Daka. Even if most of those signings bomb it'll be a critical window for us because of Daka. He truly looks like the heir apparent to Vardy.

 

Really enjoyed that. CLEAN SHEET UP THE FOXES.

....they did overplay a lot..!!!

In this situation they need points and would have served them better to have gone direct. Glad they left Ritchie on the bench, he tends to be a handful against us and the last minute changes seemed to work for us.

Great performance, some much more assured play in midfield and attack. Evans's early departure seemed to take with him our over-emphasis on passing between the two CBs. Newcastle were dire though. Hope they go down and stay down.

I don’t care if it was ‘only Newcastle’. We won 4-0, scored three lovely goals, kept a clean sheet and moved up to eighth in the table. That’ll do me.

 

Yes, it still rankles that we stuffed up the Europa League. That one hurt. But in terms of bouncing back from that disappointment, we couldn’t have done much more today, so congratulations all round and let’s hope confidence is duly restored - and lessons duly learned - for the much tougher tests soon to come.
