Will Alves

This literally could be a career ending injury even if Alves makes a full recovery. He's at that age where the club will be making big decisions about who to keep and who to release. He's obviously thought of very highly within the club so fortunately for him he has some credit in the bank but when you factor in that he has around 9-12 months to return to fitness then another 12 months to demonstrate that not only is he worthy of a longer contract but can perform in line with initial expectations he really does have his work cut out. Add into the mix that a year out gives other players a period of development to close the gap on him, this injury couldn't have come at a worse time for the lad.

 

I hope Voice is dealt with appropriately by both the FA and Wolves. I appreciate he's a young lad and you're particularly prone to making absolutely stupid mistakes at that age but in this case when it has serious repercussions for a 3rd party I feel that he has to learn that life lesson that actions do indeed have consequences.

What a shame for the lad, if madders heads off in the summer he would have no doubt had an opportunity to get into the first team squad as one of our #10 options. Poor kid not even likely to be in meaningful training again by next July

Just a question to consider;

How many of our players have done stuff like this before everything was filmed?? I'd Imagine most of our Champions have a body count to their name. Between Huth, Morgs, Waz, Simpson and Fuchs we probably get to double digits.

Caden Voice is obviously getting some terrible advice from somewhere, not in anyway excusing him but like anyone on here who plays Sat/Sunday league or even 5aside has seen their pals do worse that this lad.

The issue of lean punishments is part of the problem. He'll get, what, a three game ban? Of course it is not an exact science proving dangerous tackles to be deliberate but if the threat of a long ban was in place it should act as a deterrent. 

 

Players should have a duty of care to each other. I don't want a soft game but anyone, from a kickabout in the park to the professional game, knows what is acceptable and what isn't. Just no excuse.

Actually thinking back on this I was speaking from the perspective of my former younger angrier self who loved nothing more than a 50/50 with a silky flicky winger, put them in the sky. 

I was a horrible footballer, this Caden guy should know better.

Absolutely hideous that. If one of our academy lads did that to another player I'd want them releasing immediately. It's a deliberate attempt to seriously injure another player and he succeeded. Disgusting! I hope that shit house gets released and no other club touches him

The thing is there are no guarantees that he will

be the same player and that’s what makes this massive. His career could quite easily be ****ed, just look at Matty James, he was never the same player after his first ACL injury.  Make no mistake about it Will Alves is special, there hasn’t been another player like him in our academy. Clubs have tried for years to get him and when he was eligible for professional terms, Man City tried hard to poach him, that tells you everything. I’ve heard he was absolutely lighting up first team training recently, I’d be surprised if the club didn’t pursue legal action.

This was on purpose, it's like Keane on Haaland, I cannot recall a player of ours doing anything like this. Perhaps only, in recent years, only Benalouane in that Burton game, which people strangely found funny and circulated on social media.
