Unnamed Middle Eastern firm hold interest in buying Leicester City

On the principle of why would someone pay more for Leicester over Middlesborough.

I think the value of a football club is based on four things.

1. Playing squad - we’ve gone from €520m in 21/22, to €60m as of today. Bonkers. Middlesborough has a more valuable squad than us. If anything as we sell players, it will drop in the immediate future. However I would

anticipate the likes of Page, Carr, Nelson etc will have breakout years and the values increase with a return to the Championship.

2. Infrastructure - we win this with ease. Stadiums are relatively similar, we are more ideally located being in the Midlands. We have one of the world’s best training facilities. Belvoir Drive if you need it, then you consider all the land we own for the stadium redevelopment.

3. Brand - again, this is in our favour, as we have a larger reach albeit we haven’t capitalised on it very well at all. You could argue you’d make the £40’lm difference back in a rebuilding Leicester documentary in a similar vein to the ones Sunderland / Wrexham have trotted out. Russell Martin would be a great front for this.

4. Future earnings potential - This is 50/50. Short term I’d suggest you’d get more from Middlesbrough, due to them being in the Championship. Longer term, with our foreign fan base, expansion potential etc, we are a better bet.

That makes sense ….. I think.

I think the one big thing we have over all similar clubs to is the unique story of winning the league, subsequent champions league campaign and then the FA cup win. It’s still a romantic story and it did and still has catapulted the club onto the world stage.

Whilst you cannot necessarily put a financial valuation on the this, it will certainly still be an attraction to potential interested parties. Owning the ‘amazing’ 5000/1 Leicester City will be fair more attractive as an overall project and in terms of recognition and reputation, over say a Middlesbrough, as often this is a dick swinging contest when it comes to these people willing to invest in professional sport.

I do think as time goes by, we’ve sort of lent so much it’s become a little bit “seriously, we are starting to sound like Forest”.

The real reach is social media really and ours is dwindling as we are in free fall.

I think we are now down in something like 125th in the world, and 10th in the UK, albeit we have the social media reach of 3 or 4 times the size of Middlesbrough.

Darren trots out every line the media have fed us. Alex Crook has been extremely critical, yet reins it in just so that he can agree with him.

Crap from Talksport.

I agree, but if you step back even a small step and look at what Leicester has achieved in 10 years, to an outsider it looks nothing short of remarkable/miraculous.

What these so called football experts don’t/can’t see is the detail. His reference to Rudkin being here throughout the success betrays his full ignorance. Rudkin was absolutely not responsible for the team than won the Premier League. We, the fans, know it was Pearson and his amazing team. Equally, we know it was Aiyatwatt’s father that is manifestly responsible for what the club achieved. Putting all that to one side and begrudgingly given the boy credit for the FA cup success doesn’t forgive his abject failures since.

We need a rich Bangladeshi to buy the club, make Choudhury full time Captain  and we'll rocket up the SM chart.

Why would anyone want to buy us. Just wait a few months we will be bankrupt then get us on the cheap

Loads of reasons. Read some prior posts for a start.

That's irrelevant to adminstration.

Administration is about our business finances, not our football finances.

No it really isn't irrelevant. You think King Power are still prepared to keep putting money in even though they are using payday loans at ridiculous interest rates and selling everything that moves to keep the clubs head above water, you are absolutely deluded.

You're like a angry man shouting at clouds.

Administration is a factual thing based on business finance.

You're talking as if it's a given based on football finance.

To date, king power have written off any debt we've had to them and they've done nothing to suggest they'd cut and run. Whatever they might be, the Thai people are incredibly respectful and I would suggest there's zero chance of them letting Leicester fall rather than keeping us afloat until they find a buyer.

You've started with incorrect statements and instead of recognising the truth is different, you've decided to double down and move a few goalposts so you can claim to still be right.

You're not.

A footballing person who wants to invest for the long term, wants us out of League 1 ASAP. So you buy before we get hit with points deduction and likely prolonged stay in League 1.

A merchant looking to make profit off the bones, buys when we are in admin.

I hear what you all are saying and the sensible, logical & rational prism from which you view our situation. The thing is this sport and the business of club ownership is anything but that. All investors & owners would want to make a nice return on the cash injection but they know full well it’s a big gamble. Like any bet the lure of the payout and prestige if they strike it luck is huge.

Compared to your Birmingham’s and wrexhams we are a very attractive club if you skip the financials part. There will be interest from wealthy backers I just hope it’s the right one that gets the keys to the kingdom.

i know Top hasn’t got much cred left in the bank with us fans but I do believe he’d like to hand us over to a safe pair of hands. Atleast I hope he does if he still respects us his fathers legacy which is forever now intertwined with our club identity.

beet thing to do is ask a journalist to dig in and start poking around those uber rich circles of investors that are into buying clubs.

their the ones who put their money where their mouths are. What do I know but personally my opinion is the Leicester city story still has a lot of cache’ given all the articles and interest this anniversary year and there is still a lot of cache’ and interest to exploit this going forwards. We have 2 fantastic stories intertwined; the Vardy and the 5000-1. We are forever the underdog lol. By dropping back down to the bottom the only way is up so who wants to tell this

story? (Hello producers of welcome to wrexham?)

By your logic they might as well have saved millions and had king as Manager or someone else in-house

do you not think if he won a single game in between Marti and Rowett they wouldn't have?

What’s that got to do with now, we are in the league below and the result against Southampton looks a lot better retrospectively given what they achieved.

The same with us, hardly set the world alight with a further 2 wins did we.

If the chairman was selling everything that moves to rack up money, it makes little sense spending millions on a a manager that needed convincing when he could’ve got any old cheap shitbag

It's weird how little some have analysed our 2016 success. "Was he there during the success": yeh but he had bugger all to do with it, and has dismantled a lot of the good which was built by Pearson, Walsh, and Shakespeare.

The error was in those in charge diverging from those sensible practices because they got Billy big bollocks and thought we could play with the big boys, when we should have used that excellent foundation to go along the Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton path.

£140m is small change for Lineker now he's franchised his podcasts to Netflix. Add in a couple of Hollywood A listers and we're in business.

Wonder if Top actually cares who he sells to, to protect his Dads legacy? Or if its out of his hands now?

Leicester is four times the size in terms of population, and that (potential) fanbase is hugely valuable. It is bigger than, say, Nottingham, Brighton or Newcastle.
