Spoken to Charlie Methven. Top allegedly wants £140m, Middlesborough as a comparison are up for sale for £100m.

Word on the street is there are currently NO interested parties.

He also said a few days ago that the owner had deposited enough in City's bank account for us to comply with owner investment rules. So, based on that, we have enough to get by as a going concern, after many on here - me included - thought we'd be out of money (and out of business) in the coming months.

The deposit is imo a life support mechanism,.so that there is simply something to sell. A desperate last roll of the dice by the owner / KP

The owner and KP HAVE to find a buyer And quickly. It's the last days of Rome

If that's true, £140m doesn't seem that bad.

This is kinda misleading really. I assume you're talking about LGR?

The city as a local authority is going to have it's boundaries grow but nobody's really going to consider Syston, Countesthorpe, Glenfield, Anstey, LFE, etc an actual part of Leicester any more than they do now. The city's population is going to go up a bit but the county's is going to come down.

Some cities are already like that. Technically the boundaries of the city of Bradford go all the way up to Ilkley but nobody is going to really sensibly consider that actual Bradford. Wakefield and Leeds are similar.

It's also worth noting that quite a few local government areas are getting reshuffled and we won't be the only city potentially growing like that.

Isn't the difference that the places being brought inside the Leicester boundary are coterminus with the city, so they've effectively already become suburbs? By contrast, lkley is an entirely separate town in the countryside 15 miles outside of Bradford, so quite a different situation.

Telling you all - no interest at all, just pure spin from the club to try and cover a zero spend this summer

Garbage I’m afraid - the club needs to get out of L1 at the first attempt so even the morons running it will realise they need to throw what they can at it and put their best foot forward in terms of players, it’s not some secret we are skint so there isn’t the need to spin anything.

I think it's more existential than a sporting merit thing.

My best guess is KP have realised the club was months, even weeks, away from insolvency.

they've managed to summon up 40m of short term financing, which is there purely to keep the business in existence.

Citibank appointed to sell it as a going concern - quickly. Probs on huge Comms to do so

The division, the players, the strategy is all more or less irrelevant,.other than window dressing. Just a guess, but KP have pulled rank on the idiot owner...they need rid of the club and some semblance of cash to go back to Thailand to prop up KP itself

The likes of Braunstone Town definitely and then Birstall, Glenfield, Oadby, Wigston that's probably true but we're also gaining a moderate amount further that's clearly not continuous urban area. It's because the government wanted an approximately 500k minimum population so the proposal needed to kinda stretch the definition of what you could really get away with calling Leicester.

Obviously the Bradford - Ilkley example was an extreme one used deliberately to make the point. There's always going to be a difference between what's really defined as your city and what the actual local authority boundaries are.

The way we judge city sizes in the UK has always been a bit mad. It's very inconsistent and everyone draws their boundaries differently based on a whole load of historical waffle.

Great point !!
Totally agree that their not QUITE there yet but promotion is an absolute necessity there’s no, if, buts and maybe’s on that the club is in major major trouble and like you say it’s on life support to keep it alive , hence the fire sale of almost anyone or everyone that’s worth a few quid and yet some here are still calling for transfers in ?? Some fans just don’t get the enormity of the situation the football club is in.

All of which was totally avoidable !
Lose £££ in season 1 - No questions

Lose £££ in season 2,- no questions

Lose £££ in season 3 - no questions

Need I go on to season 5 ? Same thing !

Can’t wait to get back to Thailand and play on my horse !

And yet some still would want him to stay ?

And this is what I’ve said for a while, there are more attractive clubs to buy than ours if you are a successful business person.

Hopefully the last part isn’t true but I’m guessing Rudkin has called a mate at Sky to leak fake interest.

Whilst your points are valid, two of them contradict themselves.

Promotion is an absolute necessity.

Some here are still calling for transfers in.

Whilst the majority understand we cant be splashing the cash on new signings, promotion will only be guaranteed if we add 3 or 4 quality signings to the squad. Whether that be free transfers or loans, we need transfers in.

Whilst our youth players look exciting, it would be naive to think that a team of youth players would guarantee promotion.

Other than being in a higher division (temporarily), how would a team like Middlesbrough be seen as more attractive than us?

Your average foxestalk poster could piece together the mess. Imagine what the professionals think, they know KP are desperate and in financial disarray, I imagine there is interest but they know that price will come down.

Financially in a better position

Squad value is higher

Training ground is proportionate to the clubs current size and stature

They aren’t currently at risk of a law suit that’ll cost them millions

Because they almost made it to the prem 2 months ago

no reason to think they won’t have a good chance again this season
