I actually think he’ll be decent this year if he can stay fit, which is far from a given with a recent ACL… but three years seems mental all things considered. Would have been a good if not potentially great loan signing (I know he only has one year on his recent Ipswich deal so that is not likely, signed one month ago, when we could have got him for free)

He will be fine at League One level. But. Once again. He is coming from a Premier League side. We are paying a fee for him. He will be on a very very good wage. He will be here until he's 34. Our recent form with these deals is terrible.

 

His ability isn't what's in question here

hes proven to be a championship standard never mind league one standard, has had an injury but what player hasn't?

 

him and Chaplin were a huge part of a decent Ipswich side, again in the championship! they've both played in systems similar to the ones Russell wants to play, both would have suitors if it doesn't work out.

By Baraclough's mantra he wouldn't have taken Braybrooke (for example) on loan last season because he had no football league experience. He made League Two Team of the Year by way

Well I’m just going to do the old fashioned thing and give Richards/Aribo/Carranza/Ramsey/Begovic/Coulibaly/Skipp/Okoli/Ayew/Reid/Coady/Winks/Cannon/Kristiansen/Faes/Vestergaard/Betrand/Ghezzal a chance before writing them off as bad signings I think!
