Not the case. Bristol fans surprised he's dropping to League One, was their top scorer last season. Couple championship clubs were after him too.

Exactly this.

What we would have done last season, for a striker that got his "mediocre" return!! We would have likely stayed up.

I like him and I think he'll do well in League 1.

But 4 years is ****ing barmy. We've got to get better at standing up to agents of players that play for clubs that don't want them.

3 years would have been fine but you know full well that we will not move him on and he'll leave on a free. Probably after a couple of loans.

No the reason he ain’t joined a championship club is because he is below the level required

Nah he'd have got another Champs team no problem. The reason he's joined us is cos a) we'll pay bigger wages and b) give him a 4 year contract.

The guy has secured his future. It's the Leicester way.

On a side note I do genuinely think he will be a great signing for Division 1.

People can say 4 years is fine but Bristol City only gave him a 3 year deal a year ago. We really rate ourselves on every transfer that they aren't going to possibly fail, despite the majority of them doing so.

I think he'll be fine for this level and mid Champ but signings like this will never see us return to the PL, a tough task anyway I know.

I was going to comment exactly the same about the length of Bristol City’s contract.

Has anyone shared his alleged wages yet or what he was on at BC?

So you don't reply to the post you're quoting? I literally quoted you on your reply regarding the fee. Enlighten me

I stand corrected .  My apologies.  I thought that I'd replied to the one about Bristol managing to sign her m on a 3 year deal.  I have obviously got lost in all the excitement

Would would you recommend we sign in Lg 1 that will help see us return to the PL ? Genuinely interested who's out there, it's not a dig!

Signings with massive potential vs those likely to be known what their ceiling is.

Bit surprised on the length of contract, but I’ll firmly stick by my statement on him being one of the better realistic strikers available.

Solid addition 🤞🏻

4 ****ing years man

We'll never learn. It's become part of our DNA, giving big juicy contracts. 6'3, so if he doesn't work out as a striker, stick him in defence.

Nobody knows wages or the fee, all just usual speculation for clicks.

Not against this signing as such but a 28 year old on a 4 year deal shows we haven't learnt much. Ideally would have been a loan with an obligation or 3 years. 1/2 year deals just dont generally happen but 4 years is alot if after 1/2 years hes not good enough and we want to get shut. Only good thing is i assume he won't be on mega wages.

Desperately needed a striker proven in England, and we have. Takes the pressure off Bristric, and should mean an end to Reid or Cullen being put up front. Would’ve been nice to take a risk on an Ormerod type of forward, but we’ve done that with Bristric. Reasonably happy with this. Everything is underwhelming dropping to this level (can’t be bothered to go tonight for example!) but this is where we find ourselves. It’s a decent move for the level we are at

12 championship goals last season, can't be that bad for this level and future proofs for a potential championship season (if we get promoted 🙃, big if).

9 but who’s counting

Ignoring any alleged fee and the contract length, as a player, and at the level we are it, it’s better than I expected us to be able to do tbh. Would have expected him to go to a championship club.

The irony of challenging other peoples depth of knowledge regarding our financial situation, but happy to make assumptions on contracts based on? Working for the club I presume

I mean, the rules regarding SCP are pretty public knowledge and it's also pretty public knowledge that to give yourself a bit more leeway to meet those rules that you're better off giving someone a longer contract on a smaller salary as opposed to a shorter contract on a larger salary. Given that the players that we've signed that we've paid a fee for appear to be on what you could consider a longer contract, it's probably fair to ASSUME that this has been done to satisfy said rules rather than to deliberately screw the club over, you know, given that the person in control of this is new to the job and of no previous association to either Top or Rudkin.

I wasn't challenging his depth of knowledge, more asking who he would have signed to avoid a post like his, someone that everyone could get behind

The assumptions came from him with the wording "I bet you" and "you probably".
