Well Indiana Jones is back for the final time... unless Harrison is convinced to crack his whip in his 90's. To be honest I'd be very surprised if this is the last time if this is actually the last time we see the character give it ten years they'll either be a reboot or a tv series with different actor in the lead, wherever we like it or not.

However this defo the last time we see Harrison in the trademark Indy hat. The movie itself sounded mad even before seeing it, the idea of time travel in a indiana jones just sounds laughable and mah, to me it's shouts to me Disney have got these rights and no clue what to do with, they knew Indy was worth a lot to miss out on not returning to big screen but problem was they had basically no ideas of story and an lead actor already approaching 80. In the end I think they just chucked whatever extreme ideas they had and went for it. Without giving too much away Indy is now living down town in New York in the year 1969, while the world is celebrating the moon landing Indy is coming to terms of old age and retirement. Just as Indy thinks he's going to be spending the rest of his days alone with nowt to do in his apartment. He suddenly finds himself forced back into action over an artefact he found during the second world war, which is now wanted by a number of interested parties, one namely a group of ex Nazi group believing the piece can be used to take you back in time.

To be honest a daft as it sounds, the film is a lot of fun certainly a good summer flick with a great cinema character. Don't expect a Raiders or Last Crusade maybe not even Temple... but an improvement on Crystal Skull. The film is a messy at times and poorly written but somehow there's still some good action scenes to keep you entertained.

two tickets £40! what a scandal

I saw it also and I think you can’t really give it an analytical review as nostalgia blinds us. If it wasn’t Indy would it be a good film? Yes/No for various reasons. Does Indy make it better, of course for people of a certain age.

Then again, once the Big Bang Theory dissected Raiders, is that still a good film?

Anything the big bang related needs to be left though as that steaming pile of unfunny, crass, offensive shite doesn't deserve any credit for anything. How young Sheldon has made 5 seasons, was unfortunate enough to sit through one, makes you want to shoot yourself.

Interesting comments. I think as a stand alone film, this movie would soon be forgotten. Raiders on the other hand was a master piece as a stand alone or part of the franchise as was last crusade. Temple is okay, maybe a tad too dark. Less said about crystal skull the better. That movie could have been so much better if three things hadn't have featured. I dont think the modern new audience would appericate this. Probably a movie for the die hard fans, if you wanna introduce someone to the indy world let them watch raiders first.

Watched Titanic last night and wow what a movie. The last hour is just breathtaking cinema imho even had a little cry at the end

In my humble opinion the 1958 film A Night To Remember was a far superior film although in black and white and made a long time ago on a fraction of the budget. If anything far more emotional viewing

Thought I had gone back in time to the 90s after these two posts.

Watched "All Quiet on the Western Front" last night. (Netflix).

A German made film dubbed into English quite convincingly.

One THE most realistic, graphic, shocking, films about the WW1conflict.

Interestingly giving the German army's side of things.

Not bad but again but not as powerful as the book or original film

Honor Blackman looking beautiful, Kenneth More and David McCallum both looking fine 🙂

Yes. Never guess a few years later she would star as Pussy Galore. More and McCallum very good. The whole ensemble cast did well with a tight script and well directed.

(Spoilers for Indy 5)

I honestly find it weird that people complain that time travel storylines in 5 and the pan-dimensional beings in 4 being "far fetched" or "daft" but everyone just accepted Nazis having their faces melted off by the opening of the Ark of the Covenant, voodoo dolls and ancient magical Hindu stones, and the *actual* Holy Grail being protected by an 800 year old English Knight and then melting a Nazis face off after he drank from it and cured Henry Jones Jr from a gunshot wound.

Madness.

You're going to tell me a Disney Princess or James Bond don't have to be white next.

Initial reviews for Oppenheimer are very positive

Pumped to see both of these.

A select few cinemas are showing Oppenheimer in 35mm print. One of my mates fancies going for this. For the film geeks, is it worth gambling over the potential experience of a digital format?
