Bakey Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Not like Merson to get things so spectacularly wrong. "Twenty of his goals must have been over the top, balls that he is running on to, beat the goalie and great finish". Apart from that bit
AKCJ Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Apart from that bit People who watch him every week are still convinced he's a one trick pony. It's quite incredible really.
katieakita Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Paul Merson "flabbergasted" by Arsenal's interest in Leicester City's Jamie Vardy © Getty Images By Danielle Joynson, Staff ReporterFiled: Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 10:24 UK Last Updated: Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at 10:25 UK Former Arsenal player Paul Merson has admitted that he is bemused by the club's decision to move for Leicester Citystriker Jamie Vardy. The Gunners are reported to have triggered the forward's £20m release clause in his contract, which he signed just four months ago. Vardy, who scored 24 Premier League goals in Leicester's historic title-winning campaign, is expected tomake a decision regarding a possible transfer after England's Euro 2016 campaign. Talk of a move has surprised Merson, who believes that Vardy is not suited to Arsenal's style of play. "I'm shocked," Merson told talkSPORT. "I'm absolutely flabbergasted with it. Arsenal don't get the ball forward quick enough for Jamie Vardy. No disrespect, but he plays at Leicester where everyone goes and has a go at them. "Twenty of his goals must have been over the top, balls that he is running on to, beat the goalie and great finish. You play for Arsenal, you kick off and the other team sit ten men behind the ball "Leicester suits Jamie Vardy, in my opinion. He is perfect for them. They play his way, they get the ball forward very quickly and he will keep on causing havoc. If he goes to Arsenal, I just don't see it. That is no disrespect to him. I'm not saying he won't get goals but I don't think he will get enough opportunities [at Arsenal]." Vardy also made a Premier League record by scoring in 11 consecutive game Hardly rocket science but so plain to see but then again we have had Arse fans coming on here giving it the big one telling us teams put 10 behind the ball against them and vardy will be the one to run onto the through balls.
Jattdogg Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 The whole big club thing is a joke now. Lpool is big club but i dont see them winning the league or always in champs league. I think the last few seasons show that its anyones to win really. This year more telling then others.
AjcW Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 It's quite a popular Leicester misconception that isn't it... we actually do a lot of one touch stuff... we just do it so quick that people class it as direct
Dan Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 The majority of his goals do come that way. Not 20+ of them but a significant number of them do. They're brilliant goals to watch. Proper adrenaline goals.
ST20 Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 A journalist at the Guardian seems to think Vardy is staying and he is just trying to let Arsenal down gently.
4everfox Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 A journalist at the Guardian seems to think Vardy is staying and he is just trying to let Arsenal down gently. Why would you let a club down gently if you aren't joining them? It just doesn't make sense to me.
MCaineFOTT Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Arsenal and Leicester fans are getting ****** off with him now, its becoming a bit of a farce.
filbertstreet Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Paul Merson "flabbergasted" by his reflection in the mirror
carled Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Arsenal fans on the f365 forum are incensed with him having the audacity to make them wait. They don't want him because he's not committed the minute they fluttered their eyelashes at him.
st albans fox Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 I personally feel he has was gone Friday just prolonging the inevitable I have the same opinion
Dames Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 I have the same opinion Nah if it was definite there would be stories leaking that everything with Arsenal has been agreed and he'll sign when he's back. There is definitely someone on the Arsenal side leaking information to unsettle him. Instead all we have is that he's not made a decision. I reckon the new bonus structure in his improved LC contract must be half decent and if he is truly money motivated and self confident he might fancy his chances more chasing the bonuses here. But who really knows.
Fox 4 Life Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 This saga is so boring now. Something happen. At least so we can get to 200 pages.
The_77 Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 To everyone who agrees with Merson's comments: did you even watch Jamie Vardy play this season?
yorkie1999 Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Something should be done about these contracts. You don't get an F1 driver signing a 3 year deal for a team, then effing off to another team after 6 months. A contract should be binding.
Foxxed Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 This is an outstanding point, and a point I hope that will drive Vardy's decision on this matter, because it will result in Vardy staying at Leicester until he retires. We can offer Vardy something that nobody else can: Love. This football club took a chance on Vardy when everybody else looked down their noses at him, he has grown into the player he is today at the same time that this great football club has grown into the force it is today. Its sentimental, like seeing your children grow up as you learn how to become a better parent along the way. Arsenal can offer Vardy no more then what we can besides money which will not be an issue to Vardy once his playing days do come to an end. They have about as much chance as we have of getting Vardy more medals, that aren't any more likely to win the Champions League then we are and he will NEVER be more appreciated by a group of fans then he is at Leicester. I pray that Vardy doesn't make the monumental mistake of taking all of that for granted and signing for Arsenal because what's best for Jamie Vardy (and I am absolutely convinced by it) is staying with Leicester and seeing how deep the rabbit hole goes. I do wonder if he wants to play for an established big five club, however. If I were a footballer, who'd not grown up in love with lcfc, I would have dreamt about playing for an established club. Although he will go down in history for his last season, there's still a chance he will have never played for a "traditional big club", despite being as famous as he is. Surely that's a pull? The risk is he goes to that tradional big club and festers on the bench, however...
ST20 Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Why would you let a club down gently if you aren't joining them? It just doesn't make sense to me. Its just a complete mess now eh
Wymsey Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Can imagine Vardy laughing about it, all these twists and turns making fans uncertain - and now won't get any information, perhaps for another 2 weeks.
Foxxed Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 If Wenger hasn't decided maybe a striker would be a good idea, he's perhaps shaking the boat, in the hope he catches Mahrez on his way out, however. And since he is a cunning bastard, I wouldn't put it past him. If there's one player who'd shake the boat, Vardy is him (hi page 200). Ian Wright did say Wenger should be running a country, not a football team. Perhaps he's the Lord Vetinari of the Prachett books...
Mike Oxlong Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Something should be done about these contracts. They are when the player under performs but still picks up tens of thousands per week.

A contract should be binding. It is binding. Including the release clause WE were happy to put into it.
