Albert Posted 1 August 2017 Share Posted 1 August 2017 Preseason should be taken with a pinch of salt as it's 90% just fitness work but after the last couple of performances it's quite clear that we need some more additions especially as our main creativity player will be gone before the window shuts. No doubt there's plenty of toing & froing going on in negotiations with all of our targets but I think after recent performances the owners will start putting cash down pretty quickly, even if it's over the odds to ensure we get transfers completed and the necessary players through the doors. Lovejoy Posted 2 August 2017 Share Posted 2 August 2017 Never gonna happen, but Andre Gomes might be on the move from Barca, was looking like a great player before 16/17 .
ronnup Posted 2 August 2017 Share Posted 2 August 2017 Ianacho must be our 'marquee' signing but I'm surprised the owners haven't pushed for another big name.
STUHILL Posted 2 August 2017 Share Posted 2 August 2017 Still need a CB, RB and creative no.10 IF we get those then we should: Sell Ulloa, Benny and maybe even Okazaki, if Musa continues to show promise in attack. Amartey, Barnes and Mendy should go on season long loans.

urban.spaceman Posted 3 August 2017 Share Posted 3 August 2017 Nothing to do with us, I found this hilarious snippet from the Guardians rumours page: Quote Tottenham are actually going to sign someone!Mauricio Pochettino recently reassured his club’s fans that they would eventually hit the market – “Our moment will arrive,” he said. “We have a plan. We have a very clear idea of what we want and what we need to do to try and achieve our target.” Well, their moment has arrived! We all have a very clear idea of what they want, and it is the 25-year-old former Gillingham shot-stopper Paulo Gazzaniga, who Southampton are willing to sell for about £2m and will warm the Wembley bench next season. What a name!

StriderHiryu Posted 4 August 2017 Share Posted 4 August 2017 Really happy with our business so far, it's a massive improvement on this time last year. For me, we lack a technician in the middle of the park. Sure we won the title without one but often we get caught in a stalemate and can't break down the opposition. Jean-Michael Seri of Nice would be a great shout although seeing as they beat Ajax they will likely be in the Champions League. He made it into the Ligue 1 team of the year and is both creative and has a good engine. With Ihenacho here, I feel we have our 10 so the technician is the missing piece. Other options could be Sigurdsson, Adrien Silva or Nasri (yuck).

We lack creativity true, but that knack of providing a defence splitting pass can, in theory, come from anywhere on the park. We do need someone with 'an eye', but that can just as easily be a winger or wing back. We may even already have signed one....Iborra might play fairly deep, but his through balls ain't too shabby! Where I feel we are short is a dead ball specialist. We need someone who can be a constant threat, and regular success, when taking free kicks and corners. Our style of play means we'll continue to get a decent share of both, but our rate of conversion last season was, again, poor! I guess a lot of the 'hype' about wanting GS was based around his skills in that department but, as others have asked, where would we fit him into our system! Surely, for less than £50m, we can find a 'dead eye Dick' who plays wider and, theoretically, could replace Riyad or press for a place in the starting XI! I'd invest in another creative winger to challenge Mahrez/Albrighton, as that's where our source of creativity comes from in our system. However maybe we don't need to invest in one, if Lawrence/Gray can step up.

He's far too injury prone. That's why we didn't offer him a new contract. Good player but too unreliable.

Maybe he thinks Amartey can develop into a right back as he's decent enough on the ball if he can play centre midfield but has great physical attributes to compliment the role being athletic, quick, stamina and strength. The ability to defend as a centre half coupled with a bit of footballing ability.

Aesc Posted 4 August 2017 Share Posted 4 August 2017 A proper creative midfielder would be nice, but we have so many midfielders already I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get one, even if someone leaves (unless it's Mahrez). Especially if Iheanacho drops into the 10 role. In any case, I need another rumour to obsess over. Natural right back cover/competition is probably where we need to strengthen now. I've never obsessed over the signing of a right back before. I can give it a go.

Jimmy Posted 4 August 2017 Share Posted 4 August 2017 wouldn't be totally against a "prove your fitness" loan move for Wilshire with a fee agreed to buy if he did, when he is fit he is a fantastic play maker and is going cheap, once Mahrez goes, Nacer Chadli is apparently available. we still need an alternate right back and a CB to replace Morgan
