Jonny Evans

If Man City want him it's very likely that he'll want to join them. They will up their bid to over £20m and WBA will reluctantly accept the offer as Evans will want to go there.

Don't see us having any chance of getting him now.

It's not speculation. It's happened last week.

If we can match them, and convince him that he'll be back up there, and not with us, maybe we can get him in ourselves.

Really? Now that would be an astonishing coup, I can't see it personally.

Forget Evans , imo the best left footed central defender thats apparently available is Lazios Wesley Hiest, currently in talks with Southampton!!!!!! over a £15.5 million move. WE SERIOUSLY NEED TO HIJACK THIS TRANSFER

Shame.  Very good feel to him and Maguire ...   Doing your business early has so many pros and very  few cons .   Gibson ? ...    If we want him let's get in there ...    Never mind he's not for sale ...    Never stopped anyone from grabbing our players.

That Maguire transfer fee is looking better every day.

Even though we missed him on the cheap first time round, we still picked Hulls pocket for him.

I'm sure Hull are sick now with the ways Fees have gone since.

Before Man City bid, 'yeah take it or leave it, Evans is not worth more than £20m'

when Man City bid, 'ffs Rudkin out why did we not get him':shakey:

Typical LCFC transfer ****ery this one; fanny about when there is no interest from anyone else - fail to put in reasonable bid to secure player of decent standard who would no doubt improve us and then wave goodbye as he goes to a big club for a small fee to sit on the bench most weeks.

Someone with the experience of Evans would no doubt be an excellent player to have alongside Maguire, bringing him up to speed nice and quickly. Should have been all over this one.

Have always rated Evans and feel he has been a little under-rated over some of his career thus far.

Wouldn't stand in his way going to Manchester City, but my view o him would be lessened to some extent if he went there.

He strikes me as the rare type of footballer that isn't money-greedy and does his utmost in every game for whoever he plays for.

Another one who knows the ins and outs of our transfers.

You think we should be paying £20 million plus for Evans then...?

£20m for Evans is silly money, however, he ticks every box of what we need in a new CB.

Pay the money and gerrimin.

I'm not sure we'd get him for that.

Talk of £22M for him now. Think that is a steep price for a 29 yr old, especially for us, as loaded as we are...

Maybe with Spurs buying Sanchez, it might open up someone like Wimmer, who is younger and might fit more as a rotater (which, let's face it, that's what we'll sign as Huth/Morgan are going to start with Maguire this season).

Man City are a horrendous club, how are they getting away with spending so much money under FFP?

I hope their oil daddys **** off one day and leave them in the shit.

A good bit of 2 + 2 = 5 there.

If Zouma ended up at WBA rather than Stoke, we'd have probably signed him. West Brom wanted a replacement ready when we bid. In the meantime West Brom made him captain and tabled him a new contract (yet to accept). Therefore Evans happy to wait. Man City and Champions League football changes things though; especially when Kompany is a waiting injury.

And we won't pay the 150k a week salary he is apparently goinng to be offered

if we were really serious about him then we should have made a serious bid early on to get him. Testing the water at 10 m only upset West Brom anyway

Wimmer is going to WBA for 15m as they obviously need more CBs

Burnley letting Keane go for 25 million seems like they sold him cheap in comparison .
