StriderHiryu Posted 31 October 2017 Share Posted 31 October 2017 Shame we can't bring him back. Excellend in League One, did well at the youth world cup, now excelling in the Championship. He does well wherever he goes! Puel would probably play him too.
Stadt Posted 1 November 2017 Share Posted 1 November 2017 (edited) 4 goals and 3 assists in 661 minutes, if he sustains these sort of figures then we’ll be struggling to keep him. More productive than Lawrence in both goals and assists - Lawrence is 3 or possibly 4 years older ands has played significantly more career games which again shows how much talent Barnes has. It really is Harvey Barnsley FC Also Barnsley’s forum is a rusty dogshit bin from the nineties Edited 1 November 2017 by Wookie

Never understand why people are so keen to rush back youngsters who are doing well. Let him stay there, much better than sitting on our bench. When he's ready, get him in, sure, but for now we should sit back and watch him grow at a level he's comfortable. We're only just breaking Gray in to the first team, Barnes has a bit to do yet. 16

I'd suggest he's also developing and maturing on a personal level in an environment where he is the equal or better than his team mates.
MrSpaM Posted 1 November 2017 Share Posted 1 November 2017 What would be the point of recalling somebody who won't even make our bench Unless he's got a chance of starting games he should stay where he is

Foxxed Posted 2 November 2017 Share Posted 2 November 2017 A youthful midfield of Chilwell, Barnes, Ndidi and Gray would be amazing if we can pull it off.

The younger fringe players are happy and want a loan (Harvey asked, Shakey agreed) to enhance their careers. Opposite for the more mature players. Still, both worked out pretty well! Let's hope he impresses and continues to excel with Barnsley. If so it shouldn't be too long before he's in the U21 squad. Popular Post jet-plane Posted 2 November 2017 Popular Post Share Posted 2 November 2017 Like many on here I am very interested in Harvey's progress so made the journey to Burton to watch Barnsley on Tuesday night. Despite scoring in the last couple of minutes he was very peripheral throughout and was a little bullied by Jake Buxton. He's a good clean runner, sharp, turns well, good control but a little lightweight as you'd expect for a nineteen year old and did not get involved as much as you'd like to see after a few "borderline" challenges from Buxton. He will have learnt a lot from the game and the manager obviously has a lot of time for him otherwise he would've been taken off earlier. The average age of the barnsley team was only 23 so I'm sure he'll enjoy his football there and I'd say that it's probably the perfect place for him for the year. I hope he goes on to be a superstar for us but despite his promise he a looked a fair way off the standard we need right now. 6

He' contracted until at least 2020, so it all depends on whether anyone pays the asking price again. The owners showed in the summer that they won't be mugged off easily.
