Want the team to surprise everyone at the World Cup and, if they do well in these upcoming friendlies, the belief should be valid to know we can have a good chance of achieving well in the tournament.

Unfortunately wins in friendlies even against the top nations mean nothing when it comes to tournament football. As we have found out many times before.

Knowing Southgate, Vards stil probably won't play. It'll be Rashford and Tammy Abraham

Let the Germans have the ball and play on the break with Vards, Rashford and Sterling :jump:

All these players with so called injuries...

The players cant be arrrsed with the international break and nor can i. ..

Jake livermore shows the paucity of the england squad

Sterling, Delph and Henderson (WAHEYYYYYY) all now withdrawn... Cahill probably going back this afternoon

Be interesting to see who he calls up now I don't think he knows anyone else! lollol

Henderson, Winks & Alli all out along with Kane, Delph and Sterling.

Are we really gonna start Livermore & Eric Dier as our two CM against Germany & Brazil lol

Shelvey surely gets a call now, along with Gray perhaps???

Having said that it'll probably be Wilshere and some other fraud

Wonder if Gray is in with a shout. I know he shouldn't be in the team but he's played well in the last couple of games and Southgate loved him in the 21s.

Our players should pull out. What's the point in risking an injury in a pointless friendly. 100% Kane and Winks will be playing for Spurs in 11 days.

I wouldn't be surprised if we beat Germany but it means nothing, just like previous years, because Germany actually turn up and win tournaments.

Yep!

And Germany use these games to get an early look at the squad they'll be using for 2020 qualifying and not the exact squad they're taking to the World Cup

These games should be more than just a pointless friendly though, these are meant to be preparation for the tournament. What's the point Southgate trying to integrate a 343 formation if none of his first choice players are involved. Maybe we should have had just the one game though.

They've become pointless because clubs are the priority.

Its a real shame to be fair. Would of been good to see England at full strength in these games to see how far away we were.

With the squad that's left its now made a mockery of these 2 games as it will tell Southgate nothing!

Yes we get to see a few other players but essentially players that will unlikely feature going forward.

Wouldn't be surprised to see recalls for Sturridge and Chamberlain

It'll be a great experience and lifelong memory for Vards and Maguire to play against Brazil and Germany. surely every English footballer's dream.

Hope they get to do that.

Gray would be the most appropriate replacement for sterling surely? And I'd be surprised if Southgate calls up wilshere after his comments relating to his playing time, he'd look stupid

This is a depressing time to be an England fan!

This is literally our strongest line up against Brazil and Germany!!

                   Butland

          Stones Jones Maguire

Walker                                 Young

            Dier          Livermore

                  Rashford

      Abraham            Vardy

They've come pointless because clubs are the priority.

International managers have few games, to build a future Tournament squad.

Injured players are part and patial of that inconvenience, but the positive is they can

see, either those no/few capped fringe players, plus the newboys on the block

Even the Germans, Spanish..etc have that discomfort, though they do tend to pull 1-3

unknowns through these games aswell.

Southgate at least, more than his predecessors seems more willing, to select more newfaces.

Southgate is the new manager, give him a break. Its easy to make pre every day negatives, to boost your own egoes. Its painfull when we dont win, or go as far as hoped, but like Puel our own Manager, he deserves support. Lets see what he can get out of the new generation of mixed talent. I wont keep grinding out miserable moaning collectives, its not how I see life.

He and his players, with selected formation and tactics, have a chance to prove their worth..

That doesnt mean they must win any given tournament, but give performances that show,

they are capable, within the games and not on paper...

We have 80-100k stadiums, that means 80-100k individual opinions. All the negatives cant

Always be right, then again neither all the positives,... but try and enjoy the bloody game.

Hodgson IMO was doing ok, then just went right off track, and confused himelf and then his players. He actually did in player and duties put square pegs in round holes.

We always believe we "must", that we are automatically better "than", accept we should at least,

perform, but not automatically win. Enjoy the games as underdogs, and not automatic the "bigwigs"   nearly 60yrs of waiting aint just a coincidence, even counting for the nearly moments....I accept we shouldnt ever produce again what Hodgson gave us in the WC and euros. Higher performances can and should be expected, when we get to tournaments,

but give new system and management a chance..Why go to your graves has grumpy old/ men,

always give youth and newbies, a chance  even more...some  respect.

Continual snidey remarks aint clever, its boring..
