The Horse's Mouth Posted 9 November 2017 Posted 9 November 2017 Considering Drinky was overlooked for the euros I don't think I'd give a **** about England if I was him

RumbleFox Posted 9 November 2017 Posted 9 November 2017 I like Loftus-Cheek and it is nice to see young players given a go but if he was a Palace player and not on loan from Chelsea would he be anywhere near the squad? What has he done this season? I know there are lots of injuries but I feel for English players that play for less fashionable teams. There is never any "outside the box" thinking with the England team selection. I wish him luck and hope he does well but the English national set up needs a shake up. X
Stevosevic Posted 9 November 2017 Posted 9 November 2017 Vardy set to start upfront with Abraham: https://twitter.com/TeleFootball/status/928752057749778432 Maguire set to start also
Stevosevic Posted 9 November 2017 Posted 9 November 2017 ENGLAND: Pickford; Jones, Stones, Maguire; Trippier, Dier, Loftus-Cheek, Livermore, Rose; Vardy, Abraham
Wymsey Posted 9 November 2017 Posted 9 November 2017 Can't see Abraham being like Kane in a few years' time, seems hit-and-miss (despite his inexperience and young age). Maguire obviously has a bright future at Leicester, and he needs to be careful over considering moving to a "top-5" club if they bid for him in the future. Livermore - haven't seen much of him, but looks average and not creative enough to warrant a call-up. Hope Southgate changes my perception of him positively, but just feel more drab and fruatration predictability is to come.

lgfualol Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 Wow he might actually play vs Brazil. That's mad.
StriderHiryu Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 Drinkwater situation is very weird. I always assumed he left us to have one last chance of becoming an international given its World Cup year and he was overlooked at Leicester. At the current rate he will be sold or loaned out at the end of the year, probably to a bottom 10 side. He’s not our player anymore but what he did for us will never be forgotten. Seems like a tragic and totally unnecessary fall from grace.

fazzyfox Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 Wonder how much of it is from Drinky and how much from his club who are likely to have pre-empted the likelihood of an approach. They signed him at the start of September but he's only just become available for a couple of partial games, in this case I could understand them wanting to be cautious. These games have probably come two weeks too early for his progress which is why I wasn't surprised that he was left out initially. It's not just the games but it's also being away from his regular physio's if he's still on a graduated return to fitness.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 Excellent news for Gray and a bold selection from Southgate. Pick kids without fear instead of chuff like Oxlade Chamberlain who has had the talent coached out of him.

I mean he will probably still get a WC call up by default but you'd think he'd be doing anything to be around the squad even if he had to sit on the bench. I wonder if there's more to it with him. And what a joke that is. Southgate wants him in the squad “as he’s been playing at a higher level”. Thats why you move to a big Landan clab. This season he’s played maximum two full games if you cobbled together all his cameos ffs.
ZeGuy Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 Curious to see how the game tonight is going to pan out. Didn't see England playing since the Euro 2016.
Ted Maul Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 It's great that we've got so many players with the potential to go to the world cup, we've not had much to shout about for the last few decades in terms of City players playing for England. Just a shame that it's come in an era of total indifference towards the national team.

Would our players be near the team if some of the 'big clubs' played their English players rather than benched them? or if even the English players at the 'big clubs' could be arsed to turn out? I'd like to think they would. Vardy is unplayable sometimes, Maguire will be an England CB for many years, and Gray has the potential to be the creative player England have been desperate for.
daddylonglegs Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 I'd still be fuming at the whole set up if I was Drinkwater. They took an unfit Henderson, Wilshere and Dier to the Euros. That year he was better than all of them, and comfortably better than two.

AyewJoking Posted 10 November 2017 Posted 10 November 2017 Will actually watch this later. No big names (apart from vardy and maguire) and Germany are always good aren't they. Even if they are excellent tonight, what are the odds on that eleven ever happening again?
