Izzy Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 Not sure what the average age is, but it looks like one of the youngest England squads I've ever seen...
sk3since03 Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 No Albrighton, Simpson, Chilwell, all Premier League champions !? oh its ok Gomez, Abraham and Loftus -Cheek are there Hey Gareth, the whole country still hates you because of 96 by the way #bitter
AKCJ Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 Butland Maguire Stones Jones Walker Winks Dier Rose Alli Sterling Kane
kingfox Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 Gomez deserves it, been Liverpool's stand out recently in their shit back line. No Mee or Tarkowski though
Captain... Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 At least he is calling up young English players who are actually playing in the league even if for smaller clubs, and not Defoe and players that don't actually play first team football. We still lack a driving force in the middle, but can't really knock the selection policy.

mozartfox Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 Given the number of Turkeys selected, Rudkin would struggle to assemble a worse group than this.

Super_horns Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 Some are "ones for the future" and ofcourse play for the big boys or on loan from them..

spacemunky Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 No Jorge Grant? The bias against League Two players is sickening.
foxy boxing Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 come on this is England, so what does anyone expect. we might as well throw some youngsters in there and give them experience, especially after the success of the u19 and u20's we've constantly had the big players in and what have they done! nothing!
Ric Flair Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 Am I the only one that thinks that squad is fairly decent given what's available to select from? There's a couple from big clubs you could argue don't deserve it such as Lingard and Gomez and then I'm baffled at the Ashley Young selection but one thing Southgate will do is select U21 players he's worked with and knows what to do with them. It's a work in progress and although I think he's a crap manager his plan to try and make it an easier transition from the youth levels to the main team could eventually work out. We certainly have done unbelievably this last year at every level bar the 1st team.
Jimmy Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 England fans scream for years that the manager shouldn't just pick on names, one does and people bitch about the squad looking shit on paper
Trav Le Bleu Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 It's a very young team, hence there's no one there you'd consider a legend, but there's some possible future legends there.
oldbluefox Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 The last few performances I have seen from England have been pretty dire as far as drive and energy are concerned. Hopefully a change from the 'old guard' and a chance to bring some younger players in will freshen the team up. I'm always impressed how Germany turn out successful teams full of young talent whilst we carry on with the old faithfuls and hope they will get better. Some strange choices there, I agree, but at least Southgate is giving youth a chance.

Chico1958 Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 Shocked .................. No Danny Drinkwater
Turbogre Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 Just don't understand Southgates logic. Wilshere needs to play first team in order to earn a recall but rose hasn't play since January??
Kitchandro Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 No worse than any squad from the last 10 years.
Dr Marco Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 We're gonna win the cup! It's coming home, it's coming home, it's coming football's coming home...
Dan Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 Joe Gomez. Yet another who isn't even close to that squad if he's playing for West Brom.
Dan Posted 2 November 2017 Posted 2 November 2017 Harry Winks looks genuinely very decent. Could be the tonic for what stops people pretending Wilshere's going to turn up every couple of years.
