Because we have more players than Ben-hur had extras!

I remember when we signed Steve Claridge from Birmingham.  He said their squad at the time was so big, pre-season training resembled a scene from Zulu!

Looks absolutely incredible!

When is the training ground due to be completed? (Approximately).

Very shrewd thinking from the owners. Won't pay dividends immediately but an incredible asset to have for the future. We may well be a mid table team for a while, but this sort of thinking should cement us as a top half Premier League team over time, which given the years spent outside the top flight is something that we as fans often gloss over. It makes me also that we will eventually be competing regularly for European football. and I can even see us making the Champions League again one day through a sneaky 4th place finish.

If they get permission at sept plans committee they hope to start asap ie october. They they think it will take just over a year to complete. So I think you are probably looking at them moving in Dec 2019 or jan 2020 from the looks of things.

It will get to a point where no one will be able to compete with us in the midlands for young talent. Our catchment area will be huge and we should be able to breed and develop the most talented players in the midlands purely because they will want to train at our facilitates.

In the north of the county to to attract those Derby, Staffordshire and Nottingham lads too.

I think it's massively important to improve our infrastructure whilst we're at the top of our game and cash rich.

No doubt at some point we'll be relegated again and our time at the top would be squandered if we had spent all the money we received in that time on players and wages. If we can get a state of the art training ground and improve our capacity and bolster our fan base we'll have become a much bigger club in our time at the top and be much better primed to make a quick comeback than traditionally similar sized clubs like Derby, Forest, etc.

Totally agree with you, and what's most satisfying is that our owners seem to think the same way. I remember when they came in being full of trepidation of running up a huge bill trying to compete that could put us in an even worse position, but they've been absolutely brilliant.

The thing I like the most about our club is that we are progressive and ambitious, but doing it in a classy way. We aren't just going out and out spending everyone else 10:1. I know some fans would probably prefer that approach as it does usually result in a more competitive team, but for me I want the club to retain a heart and sense of identity. I'm really digging this approach of investing in young players and a world class training academy. This World Cup has really put me a smile on my face as we have lots of players at the competition, many of whom are starters for decent teams.

I just can't help but feel positive about the club these days! Last season might have been underwhelming, but everything is moving in the right direction.

After seeing these plans I'm thrilled to bits but a little unsure how they can expand and rework the current stadium to be as iconic. These plans really do show the intent of the owners to put us on par with the best, but I'm starting to think maybe a whole new stadium is what we need, but who knows they may have plans to change the whole look and feel of the KP alongside the increased capacity. Well that's what I'm hoping for and anything less will feel a little bit of an anti climax

New pictures show how Leicester City's planned £100m training ground will look
The club wants to create the best training centre in Europe

ByDan MartinPolitics Reporter
11:29, 27 JUN 2018UPDATED12:06, 27 JUN 2018

Incredible new images of Leicester City’s proposed new £100 million training ground have been revealed.

The artists’ impressions, produced by the club’s architects, show key elements of the complex including the training centre, an indoor pitch within a grassed dome and 12 full size football pitches, a nine hole golf course, a players’ garden where the club’s stars will be able to relax, socialise and prepare mentally for forthcoming training and matches in ‘a tranquil and private outdoor space.’

The Foxes' billionaire Thai owners have committed to developing world class training facilities over a 185 acre site that was formerly the Park Hill Golf Course at Seagrave, eight miles north of the city.

Players currently train at Belvoir Drive, off Aylestone Road in Leicester, but the club says the facilities there are inferior to those enjoyed by their Premier League rivals with limited potential to improve them and no opportunity to expand because it is in the middle of a residential area.

The new training ground will also offer greater privacy for players and staff.

The 2015/16 Premier League champions has now submitted a detailed planning application to Charnwood Borough Council which will decide whether to allow the ambitious scheme.

What will the development have?
A covered show pitch with 499 seats, spectator toilets, and an elevated camera platform

12 full size football pitches

Six Part size grass pitches

Two goalkeeper areas

One attacking area

Five warm up and technical training areas

A sports hall

A training centre to be used by the first team and academy with hydrotherapy, medical , rehabilitation and dining facilities.
It will also have education facilities, offices, 30 bedrooms for the players and management.

Stores and its own power plant
421 parking spaces with eight coach parking bays with disabled and electric car parking spaces.
The UK’s first sports turf academy to train groundsmen
'State of the art facilities that will attract the best talent'

Club architects KSS said: “Leicester City Football Club’s design brief was clear - to create the best training centre in Europe, providing state of the art facilities that will attract the best talent and encourage the complete development of players, both as individuals and footballers.

“The training ground is required to provide comprehensive training facilities for the club’s professional first team and the youth academy.

“The facilities and operations of the academy together with coaching, education and match obligations for academy players are set out in the Premier League’s Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).

“The proposed development must be an inspirational ‘place of work’ with a clear aspirational message to create an environment where there is a defined route for development and success.”

Leicester City want to move away from Belvoir Drive, which has been the training ground since 1964

The club says the construction phase of the scheme will create direct 495 jobs and a further 215 jobs indirectly.

It estimates the full time workforce at the new training ground will be 95. It says most of those staff will transfer from Belvoir Drive initially but there will be opportunities for more posts to be created in the long term.

A dozen new ponds will be created and 38,000 trees will be planted.

The club wants to realign an existing bridleway that runs through the site but widen and resurface it.

Didnt Southampton have to sell a few key players to fund there new training ground a few seasons back?

Yes but Southampton didn’t have a champions league run which has helped us greatly

This is a good point, between London and Manchester we will be the standout option for any young talent. Tbf we are already but nothing wrong with cementing that title!
