Morgan as usual is the scapegoat for all round weak defensive performances from numerous defenders. Ricardo has been our poorest defender by a mile so far. Evans vs Wolves was woeful and not that much better vs Huddersfield.

 

I want to see Soyuncu get into this team, but if Morgan is back vs Newcastle then meh. He's no worse than anyone else.

Maguire hasn't been brilliant either but I'm sure they'll all come good soon.

What we need is another Tackler in the midfield to stop the opposition further away from Goal.

We're relying too much on NDiddi and he's overworked. Is it any wonder he cant pass the Ball when he's in possession.

Interesting question - fair to assume that Ricardo paid the price for Puel wanting one fullback who would stay home with the two strikers on the pitch. If that’s not the case then perhaps he didn’t follow the managers instructions the previous week and we shouldn’t have been that open ....

He's french, he still hasn't won the Premier League, he lost games sometimes and some people are just bored when players just don't pass the ball the faster way they can in the direction to the opposite goal even if it accomplishes nothing.

Also they want better results than what the counterattack style got for 3 years but don't want possession football.
They want the legends of the club to be respected but don't want Morgan to play because he is too old and bad and are very vocal about that even if it's largely exaggerated.
They want new talented players in the squad but want to bin them as soon as they had 2 bad games and don't give them time so set up.
They want young players to build a squad for the future but play Simpson, Fuchs or Okazaki as soon as a youngster make a mistake.
Still, they want to have the same line-up weeks after weeks because otherwise it's the sign the coach has no idea what he is doing.

In other words, they want everything, they want it now and if they don't get it, it's not because football doesn't work that way, it's because Puel is bad and should be replaced with litterally anyone as soon as possible. That's what some Southampton "supporters" thought too...

Page 6 deals with Kitch calling everyone crazy since some were positive after the united game.

 

Page 8 deals with Puel failing to succeed last year, having poor rapport with players and making too many changes

 

Page 11 deals with playing Amartey over Simpson.

 

Page 13 deals with the fact Puel fails to adequately engage Sharpe's fox and the fact Puel isn't handsome enough but hey ho we scored a goal.

 

Page 18, a real treat, starts with a very promising story about his time in Nice.

 

Then someone claims, using their apparently extensive French football knowledge, that he only succeeded because the players ignored him.

 

Then someone claims we won't win against London teams so we're getting relegated.

 

And finally someone calculated his win ratio so far and claimed we won't improve and so claims we're getting relegated.

 

To be fair, with the exception of some posters who see Puel as the devil incarnate out to destroy everything good and pure in the universe there's some mildly sensible posting.

GREAT post.The 'who replaces Puel' post where 23% of our fanbase want Eddie Howe......nearly 5% want Neil Warnock, nearly 4% Sean Dyche, 50% Benitez, and 5% Wagner!!! All outstanding managers of teams that will probably be battling out the relegation places this year, and mostly (Howe excepted) play really dire football.

 

It really astounds me the managers people want instead of Puel. You can see the players are playing for him, and I'm sure Vardy, Kasper, Maguire, NDidi, Maddison etc would not have signed long deals if they thought him hopeless. I noticed Vardy having a good laugh with him on Saturday when Puel was giving instructions. 

 

As for style, it is coming. Even the Bournmouth performance was not the terrible effort so many have posted on here. We actually played with some style, but were just defensively poor. Give Puel time, support him, he is building here and I like that, just as Pearson did in his years here.

 

There was no building under Ranieri who did very little to improve us after our title win, when we had a fantastic opportunity to really attract players. And some our football late in our title winning season and early the next  season was dreadful (as it was under Shakespeare and for a long time Pearson). 

 

The other point I like about Puel is that young talent are coming here, staying here, and more will want to come here in the future, knowing they will get game time and develop, if they are good enough, and I doubt there are any other PM managers out there that would put so much faith into younger players, plus keeping us safe in mid table. For me, that is an achievement in itself.

 

As for playing Morgan (who is not half so bad as people make out), only Puel knows the fitness and attitude of the other players. My main gripe with Morgan is that he should show much more leadership early in matches. This starting slowly is a concern, which Puel realizes, but Morgan is on the pitch and as leader, he should be telling the players to wake up, but he just stands there. This was very evident in the Liverpool match, when Salah missed a sitter after just a few minutes. Morgan didn't stir the team and 5 minutes later we were 1-0 down. 

 

Or let's just sack Puel and get Fat Sam or Pardew in, or one of the disasters above. Now that's progression!

Irrespective of what the team is doing they'll always be detractors of the manager. Some would change the manager every 2/3 months if they could, absolutely barmy.

 

The fact is we are improving and with another test looming next week against Everton we should have every reason to believe another 3 points will be ours.
