Really decent game. Great strike by madders.BUT if they had anyone lethal upfront they would have done. They missed some sitters!!!

It was too easy for them to get beyond our lines and into our defence ..... spurs will not be so generous with their finishing if we repeat this  - however, take away Watford’s  lacklustre finishing and they are a decent side

So we could be playing wonderful football and in 20th place; then you'd be happy?

Weird considering he never stopped going on about us finishing low down the league or getting relegated.

Who?  Watford?

After that banner paid for by their own fans, I wish them all the best.

Banner was amazing very grateful, but will never forget Deeney.

So are we satisfied with our point total from our last 5 fixtures, all of which were against bottom half clubs?

West Ham 1-1 (13th in table)

@Cardiff 1-0 (16th)

Burnley 0-0 (18th)

@Brighton 1-1 (11th)

Watford 2-0 (10th)

9 points, only 5 at home, we clearly have a massive scoring issue at present, averaging a goal per game at the KP during that stretch (and overall as well). I think 9 points was probably the minimum acceptable for the squad over this stretch. The Burnley match really grinds, it was one we really should've won, that club has been awful this season and has given up a fuch-ton of goals, failing to score at home against them was shambolic.

On the other hand, we haven't lost since October 22, and we've allowed only 2 goals our last 6 games if you include the CC. Plus we had the helicopter crash, which undoubtedly diminished us to some extent. If we can keep up this defense, that wpuld be amazing, but watching the Watford game today, seemed they kept themselves off the score sheet rather thab us doing it.

I think next week @Fulham is a must win for Claude. After that we start a serious run of matches against quality clubs, quite likely Claude gets canned here if it is going to happen as points are going to be hard to come by. 7 of the next 12 are against top-6+Man U, all very losable, plus we get CP x2 which ravaged us the last couple times, and Wolves away and they are dying to hammer us. That is 10 of 12 very losable games imo, tho perhaps CP won't have our number the way they did last season, IDK. Not that we will lose them all, obv.

I suppose with this run of fixtures looming, I am pretty disappointed to have only gotten 9 out of the last 5 matches, beating crap teams like Burnley at KP at West Ham at KP are the reason we aren't comfortably top-6.

Just like last season , our failures against less talented teams look to keep us out of Europe. We absolutely must get a target man in the winter window, maybe an older proven goalscorer that the elite teams deem over the hill, someone we could pair with Vardy up top, maybe we switch to three at the back and slot him right in. Suddenly Albrighton's crosses would command total attention, and it would open up the defense a bit for Vards and our wings.

I think you'll find 10th is top half in a league of 20, not to mention the fact that they were 9th when we played and beat them....

Deeney was the man who lit the touchpaper that eventually led to us winning the league

Exactly.  If some are not over Deeney Day after the ride we've had, there's something wrong.

If we had gone up that year, it might have been too soon.  We could have come straight back down.  No great escape, no title and no Champions League.

Thanks Troy.

Great to see the side play with a bit more omph and freedom, could see the players enjoyed themselves so much more and there’s was a much clearer appreciation towards Puel at the end as a result. We gifted them too many chances but promising approach nevertheless.

The atmosphere was quite good yesterday, fans were chanting for a couple of minutes solid after the first goal and the chants for Vichai towards the end of the game seemed very loud.

And so much better without the goal music. Most notably, it gave us all a chance to stand and applaud Maddison's superb goal without music drowning it out.

I never doubted that once he'd settled in, Evans would make a huge difference to our defence. He is first and foremost a defender and if it's clean sheets we want, then he has to be selected ahead of Maguire - who is clearly at his best in a back 3, with licence to roam.

Zzz...Stop being boring. Touchy group this. Ask a question, share an opinion, can't help but hurt feelings in 2018.

Pretty bleak outlook considering we are experiencing our greatest sustained success for 50+ years. We are stable in the PL, world famous for winning the league, have a young exciting squad containing three England internationals, have scored in every match this season except 1, and haven't lost in the last two hugely eventful months, and you still expect the manager to sacked for losing to Man City and Spurs?

I said if it is going to happen, it is going to happen during this upcoming brutal stretch, which is a lot more than Man City twice and Spurs. I prefer Puel keep his job.

I'm a big Deeney fan too.

It was interesting watching him and Fuchs warming up together on the sidelines during the game. They were merrily chatting away like best mates for quite a while and doing the same stretching routine together. I reckon Deeney has a soft spot for Leicester and deep down wishes he was one of us.

Yes, I noticed that too.

Deeney also gave a shirt and his gloves to a young Leicester supporter in the front few rows of the Family Stand.

He always comes across as knowledgeable and that touch of class yesterday to the young Leicester fan only raises my opinion of him still further.

That wasn’t bad.

Mendy is getting better and better, Richardo has got up to pace and improved considerably, Evans looked solid. That assist from Albrighton!!!

We just need to stop giving the ball away and doing the oppositions job for them. At  least make them win the ball back.

Has Puel bought a bad player during his time here ?

Ghezzal?

I think Deeney has been approached by us in the past but I dunno if it was the case of the price being too high for his value or went for someone else. I think it may have been when Shakespeare was in charge instead going for Deeney we went for iheanacho. Maybe not yesterday but other times I wouldn't mind Deeney coming on as an impact substitution. Imagine Albrighton with his crosses putting into the box with Deeney's head, we'd certainly score a few.

Think it was the price and I'm sure we went for Slimani instead looking back now maybe we should have took the gamble Slimani didn't fit in at all and Deeney has the attributes we look for I was against it at the time though but would have been a good move looking at it now
