Vardy transfer request rumour

Jamie Vardy admits Leicester’s style of play under Claude Puel does not suit him but the forward has vowed to do what he can to adapt to the Frenchman’s methods.

Vardy has scored 20 Premier League goals since Puel replaced Craig Shakespeare as Foxes boss in October last year but the forward has often looked isolated in games.

The ex-England striker netted 24 goals to help fire Leicester to the Premier League title in 2016, with the Foxes playing a more incisive and direct brand of football under former boss Claudio Ranieri.

Asked if Puel's possession-based philosophy suits him, Vardy told Sky Sports News: "Does it? No, but is that down to me to adapt to it? Yes.

"And obviously the only way I'm going to do that and keep progressing is working hard on the training field.

"It does get a bit frustrating but we are transitioning into a different style of play. I think we've just got to keep working hard on it and eventually it will get us going forward that bit quicker because when we get into attacking positions eventually the ball will get picked out for some of my runs."

Vardy is expected to be restored to Leicester's starting line-up for the trip to Chelsea on Saturday after missing the midweek Carabao Cup loss to Manchester City as a precaution following the recurrence of a groin injury.

The 31-year-old confirmed he will not require surgery to cure the problem but admits playing a number of games in a short space of time is not really an option for him right now.

"It's just about managing it [the groin problem]," he said.

"Obviously I want to play as many games as possible, but playing the 90 minutes on Saturday there was no way it was going to get risked again [against City] on Tuesday with the chance of it putting me out long term.

"I won't need an operation but it is just about managing it, which is what we've done after playing last Saturday with a full week until my next game. It's been managed in the right way and we've got a great physio department and support staff in the background.

"It is frustrating but we pick up niggles all the time and if it's best for me to miss a game to make sure I am not out long term, then that is what we have to do."

As much as I love Vardy, it wouldn't make sense for the club to build a team just to sort he's needs.

Also if he wants to play to his mid 30, he will need to adapt his game.

He might want to leave but I don't see him handing a transfer request in. Don't think anyone better than us would want him anyway. Maybe Everton if you can class them as better.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he wants out. I'm sure we will be fine with nacho up front on his own.

:frantics:

But in all seriousness, nacho-man isn't a lone striker. Not intelligent enoug for me and caught too flat footed to operate that position. Definitely needs a striker partner to get the best out of him.

Don't agree with booing nacho. The position doesn't suit his game.

nacho more suited for a subs role-bring him on on 93 mins to waste time!!

Absolutely, he could lie down in the penalty area and go to sleep and probably a centre half will trip over him. He's half way there!

Social media pisses me off but for stuff like this it's just worse. I saw one person on twitter say they "hope Kasper and Maguire do the same to force Top to sack Puel". Like wtf.

He's 32 and on a contract longer than anyone else will give him. Who is going to pay the money to buy him exactly?

Probably fancies one last move, he'll get similar money to what he's on here and probably a decent signing on fee. He's also sounds p**sed off with the way we play which doesn't suit his style and won't get the best out of him. The only problem I can see is the fee we would want for him, but to be honest the big boys don't seem to care about transfer fees if they need someone they just pay it.

So Vardy has come out and said the style of play doesn't suit him but he understands it's down to him to adapt his game...

He's also come out and said yes he's managing an injury and praised the physio team for their professionalism in helping him deal with it...

I don't see how this means he's going to leave personally?

Do you know what won't suit his style... being sat on his arse warming the bench.

I hope it also means it will stop people having a go at Puel for omitting Vardy for Tuesday lol

Very cleverly worded from Vardy.

There are lines to be read between.

Depends how much you really want to read in to it and suit an agenda :P

We are in a day of over analyzing  everything.  Vardy is speaking truth and we all know this is the case with puels style not fitting his.

Let people speculate. He aint going anywhere.

Depends how much you want to believe everything is hunky dory behind the scenes :P

Is anyone genuinely bothered that a 32 year old with a dicky groin is annoyed that we aren’t looking to play his style of football anymore?

Leicester City football club is bigger than Wes Morgan, Danny Simpson, Shinji Okazaki, Christian Fuchs and Jamie Vardy. We need to build for the future, the club from the top down (no pun intended) want to build a whole club identity similar to Ajax. That’s the most important thing, it’s a long term vision.

Nah, not hunky dory but I won't always go looking for a negative slant of every thing someone says in a story.

Would anyone accept £5 million and Tammy Abraham from Chelsea for Vardy?

Yeah, Roman Abramovic.

Who exactly does this 'style' of football suit, then ?

Iheanacho ?

Okazaki ?

Gray ?

Maddison ?

Ghezzal ?

Any fecker at all ?

Is Ndidi thriving in the middle of the park in this great new system, after showing so much potential ?

He is, ever so slowly but surely, sucking every living breath out of the team

Made worse by playing an ineffective style that doesn't suit him.

I'm not saying we should pander to suit certain players but when we're struggling in terms of strikers and he's the best striker at the club surely you make the best of what you've got not continue with a slow, ponderous build up with lack of service.

As I said earlier in the week, i'm asking for flexibility in our style, it's easier to change and play a style to suit the players rather than ask them to do something they're clearly not great at, get the best out of what you have.

It's blatant to see all the thing @Dickov22 has desecribed and has been for a long time.

The way we play and the way Vardy fits in (or rather doesn't) reminds me of everything we used to slag England off for and how frustrated/ineffective he was.

So so true re England.
