Don't know how far they have got with road laying, paths and walkways, car parks etc. That will also involve gangs, I assume.

No mate sorry the wife hasn't been up for a month or so.

I work in a construction related field too (albeit classed as an "essential worker" as it is all railway connected) but most construction firms are following specific industry guidance where all works are risk assessed for social distancing and other criteria. With a little invention most tasks can be completed, although some will require use of additional PPE or deferring.  On our sites we are using stretchers or have knocked up arrangements with poles and planks etc to carry materials and items that require two people lifting to maintain social distancing. The main issues are those jobs that need one person to hold an item such as an electrical cabinet up against the wall whilst someone else drills/fixes it etc but even such situations came be overcome.

Before anyone is allowed onto site they have to declare if anyone in their household is isolating or in a vulnerable group and if so they are sent home.Breaks are staggered to reduce the number of people in the canteen/mess hut at any one time and everyone brings their own packed lunch and tea cup etc. If anyone becomes ill whilst at work then the whole site shuts for the rest of the day and a specialist team of cleaners come in to disinfect the place before work can resume.

Construction companies are trying to keep projects going to maintain their cash flow and hence ability to pay wages without laying staff off.(most in the industry are self employed/agency/zero hours contracts etc)

Whilst it is safe to do so then work will carry on presumably, although clients too need to be understanding that programmes will over run due to staff and materials shortages.

Brendan Rodgers only lives a short distance away from the new training site (moved in just before this lockdown happened) after previously living in Newtown Linford.

That's great news and probably speaks volumes as to the type of man and coach that he is. If you enjoy being an on the pitch coach and getting your idea of football across, then the new training centre must be like a dream come true. You would literally have the ability to set a style of play across every team in our club from youth to first team level and watch as it takes shape. And Rodgers is definitely that type of coach! Brendan supposedly has a bit of an ego but I don't think that's a bad thing, in fact I think having someone with the audacity to want to stamp their style of play and footballing identity on a club is perfect where we are right now. I've always had massive respect for teams like Ajax and Benfica who despite being in weaker leagues always play a certain style. We are having a great season results wise, but for me the real joy has been seeing how good our team has played at times, and seeing the obvious improvement in players like Ndidi, Soyuncu and Barnes. I could definitely see Rodgers make superstars out of a few more players yet.

I could see him spending most of his time at the centre and enjoying being there. And that might be really important as we know that other clubs are interested in him. It wouldn't surprise me personally if he took over from Pep after his contract ends with the Mancs for example.

I`m not sure Wysall is any nearer to Seagrave than Newtown Linford to be honest and the NL house is simply stunning ! bad move :-)

It is, just, according to Google Maps.

Agreed about the latter, it sure is.

My uncle's lived there for 20 years. Very nice and quiet village.

Has anyone been past lately? Is there still activity on site?

Only a few weeks left until the club gets the keys (unless a delay has been agreed).

There's a schedule somewhere but it was due to be ready for the start of pre-season training. So yes, June was the target.

So a few weeks is actually pretty well 2 months 😄

Do we know if it’s still on for a June completion? If so it might be in use for next season as it will no doubt be delayed.

And if it's not delayed it could be in use this season.

It'll still need to be bedded in though, you don't go from construction site to season ready office space/pitches in a matter of weeks. Even in 2018 when England were ramping up for the World Cup meeting and training at St.Georges Park the outdoor areas still looked too sterile, the trees were still strapped to their guidesticks, it still didn't quite look right and it was 6 years old at that point.

Where about? Up on the hills by the memorial?

I lived in ‘Sorrel for 24 years.

Now I’m literally a few fields from the ground as the crow flies.

I’ve been around to it once a couple of weeks ago on my bike ride, this was the view from the gates.

Nice little chicane to slow the players down leaving the ground. ;)

10 days ago - went for a bike ride.  Had a wander down the footpath.  Beware of the security guard :-)

I was cycling past, decided to stop and take a photo and the guy on the gate started walking towards me and shouting “No Photos”

I don’t know what the rules are regarding taking a photo from the public highway, I’m not sure if he was going to confiscate my phone or make a citizens arrest but I just panicked and rode off 😂😂
