I don't think he was that good, but he was nowhere near the worst.

Yeah, wasn’t the worst player - he played a couple of decent balls and played between the lines, while others didn’t move much and just kept passing backwards. 
 

The team was poor and lacked creativity.

That's a tad reactionary. By his usual appalling standards, he had a great game tonight. But he is stinks far more than he shines. But pleased it made you happy.

If you go through most of our best results in the last few years, you'll find he's started nearly all those games. He might blow hot and cold in terms if his attacking influence from game to game but he certainly plays his part in the team unit and we're usually a better team when he plays.

He’s a half decent technical footballer but his big problem has always been that he is so easily dispossessed.

 

Whether it is because of simply being lightweight, or slow, or to do with his head-down style when he is on the ball, but the fact is he just doesn’t do enough to - as they say in NFL - “look after the football”.

A under 10 would not get pushed of the ball as easy as him , he just doesn’t look enthusiastic no matter what he is doing , for me he is a waste of space .

He was by no means the worst player out there. We lost some momentum when he went off if we are honest. Easily dispossessed at times but equally so is KDH and Barnes.

That pass over the defence to barnes in the box was sublime, if KDB did that for Man City, carragher would have been knocking one out and foaming at the mouth over his ability. Banana feet wasted it ofcourse.

Thought he was very decent tonight - and our best player on Boxing Day (admittedly against very little competition). He's obviously no Maddison, though.
