Without Amartey we would have lost 1 nil. He had a good game.

Bertrand was a liability. Useless going forward, pedestrian in defence, and at fault for the Spartak goal. He should never play again.

We’ll completely ignore Soumare not tracking Moses’ run shall we?

Soumare is really terrible at tracking runners. He's contributed to a lot of our defensive lapses by letting people waltz past him. I think he's got huge potential and will be a great signing but his anticipation needs a lot of work. I'd be dropping him for Wilf, starting this weekend.

Made me laugh that he made more attacking runs than Bertrand tonight lol

Bertrand was shameful tonight. Does not give a toss and is ****ing shit too boot. By far the worst of a bad bunch. Performance was piss poor and boring. Youri seems the only one who gives a shit.

Good corners though. :D

I had to laugh when Bertrand got his corner right (not for the first time tonight, and not the first time we have scored from one of his corners), Ayoze soared above his marker and Big Dan finished it off. FT love-fest incoming, I thought. lol

Not saying he was good overall, of course.

I think Brendan was unusually honest about this post match. The reality is the genius that is Youri is not that great without the ball, and Bouba is still learning.

BR said it was the same against Arsenal, not tracking runners. I'm sure Wilf will improve us, but I'm really hating 3 atb right now, unless we are parking the bus.

I think, on this occasion, this would be the wrong thing to hold against him.  We are chasing a game and he’s trying to put a shift in to get us back into the game. Fair play to

him- I’d rather he did that than just sit back and stay as part of the back line.

I’m not doubting his intent, but unfortunately he isn’t going to be the player that skins 4 players and creates the goal, he just isn’t. I have had a similar issue with Kasper in the past when things get desperate, he suddenly wants to do more than his remit, his decision making goes down the pan and all we succeed in doing is giving possession away cheaply and stifling our more creative players.

There was a specific moment where Soumaré had ran off the back of his man, Cags should have played through the left channel line and Bouba would have been driving into the box …. But instead he went back to Evans, that was Cags’ opportunity to impact forward play, not to run aimlessly into the space where your attacking players are waiting for the ball and to run at their opponents.

Still managed to massively contribute to their goal though. That's the problem. He commits, he's rash, and we're an unorganised mess with him in the team.

I'd wager Bertrand, Youri and Soumare were far more at fault for the goal than Cags was!

totally get what you are saying.

I guess I’d just rather see SOMEONE making an effort than no one at all.

I hear ya mate and agree too as it was all far too flat and then we hit panic stations.

I thought Youri & Timmy linked up well throughout the game and got in behind the LB a few times.

Our left side wasn’t as dynamic, Bertrand just doesn’t have the pace to be penetrating. The one time he did get put through in the first half he took an age on the ball and got tackled and then by the time Lookman came on, they were sitting deeper and we had pressed the desperation button. Tbf, Lookman did win the peno with a nice piece of movement (give n go) but didn’t back himself to put Moses on his back side, which was unusual as he’s looked a really confident threat in all of his previous appearances.

Looked poor again today based on the highlights, got caught out of position constantly.

Was he as disappointing as the highlights suggested?

Yeah, he seems to have lost all positional sense which is disappointing as I always thought that was a strong point to his game.

He kept diving into tackles too, which makes no sense as a player as good as Raphinia will easily take it around you.

Thanks mate. A lot of fans have been critical of Vestegaard but sounds like Soyuncu has been really poor too.

Who'd have thought that after Evans, Amartey would be our most consistent defender until Fofana returns?

Yeah, he just looks like he has a mistake him. He terrified every time the ball came into the box but Evans was also guilty of this. It’s tough to put your finger on what has gone really, however, I think that it’s quite evident that he has gone backwards in the past few months.

We’ve just got to hope that Fofana coming back will give him some confidence I guess.

Looked a different player tonight, oozing confidence, ok it was against a struggling Legia Warsaw with all due respect but I think he looks far more comfortable playing forward passes as opposed to sideways, backways and simply putting himself under immense pressure, makes sense.

Get his new contract sorted, I swear that's played a part. We know he's good enough, I'd hate to lose him but the longer it drags on then it goes the other way and we'd have to consider moving him on.
