you’d think so but from what i can literally see in front of me that’s not the case.

it’s probably the weather. and the area i live in. i think a decent chunk of the flats etc. round this part of town are “young professionals”, either singles or a couple of mates living together. the area with beer gardens by the canal etc. has been very busy today. some of the beer gardens are about half full with folk taking their own cans and having a normal bank holiday weekend.

everyone’s had enough, the fu cking stupid newspapers have told us “lockdown is ending” and people have given up.

Oh the government have lost control. Death toll isn't that much lower either. We're Americaing this right up.

Went for a 5 mile walk across fields into nearby village. Stood in the church where the footpath ended and listened to a fella play the last post which was cool. Walked round the corner and there’s a woman outside her house in her 50’s, tone deaf with backing music on a portable speaker singing ‘land of hope and glory’ on repeat with a microphone. Sherry in hand. Now I’m all for a bit of VE Day Britishness but I told my wife to kill me on the spot if I end up in such a way...

On the cul de sac where I live the lockdown has been well observed.

Until today, loads of the residents from different houses now sitting outside together & loads of kids biking & playing & there is no social distancing at all. It's as if everyone thinks we are back to normality.

We may as well send all the kids back to school & everybody else back to work, the lockdown appears to be a bit of a farce now.

I would argue it’s not back to normality because there is not a chance these people would be partying with neighbours if there wasn’t a ‘lockdown’.

As many will tell you it works in South Korea, Japan and Germany etc it’s not just the UK trying to rollout an app.

I would imagine there will be follow ups to hitting the button to say you have it, otherwise as you say, your either being a tool and messing with the system or you are just saying you have symptoms which is no good for the data collection they are after.

I replied to Trav’s comments from 10hrs ago, since reading I’ve read the remaining comments about the app..wtaf are some of you on, is it just because it’s the UK and therefore it must be useless, pointless, waste of time, trying to reinvent the wheel, to late, won’t be as good as another countries etc etc....Give me fec’ing strength it’s bloody true, whiners are wieners!

Where in Germany...!!!  I have nothing but IT techies in Family & colleagues...They know nothing of its General introduction..

Possibly, in my area I live on a main road so no street parties and went out for a walk and nobody seemed to be doing anything against what is recommended. Obviously it could be different in apartments and cul-de-sacs, no pubs or parks within hearing or seeing distance from my house so it feels like it has been for weeks.

Maybe these people were meeting up inside and felt able to do it outside instead? Just would surprise me that people have been observing the lockdown very closely and then would go out with abandon, disregarding all that went before.

yeah like i said i think it is the area, obviously nobody has a garden and there's not a park for distance, we've just got the canal path and then beer gardens, basically. but both of those have been a hell of a lot busier today than any other day in the past 3 weeks.

Will more people be up in arms if we do stay in lockdown, or if measures to ease the lockdown are introduced? I feel that those angry about deaths have a louder voice than those angry about staying indoors. Valid or not.

With Wales now confirming lockdown for 3 further weeks, if we follow the same path I imagine a contributing factor to that decision making will be caution.

Not caution as regards the health of the population. Caution in that given that they're already facing criticism, the government may elect to give in to pressure in order to save face. If they were to lift measures and there was a spike, small or not, it would be very damaging for the government.

I went for a walk this arvo and there was a very noticeable difference in people's behaviour. In general it's been fairly well observed here - the market square has been eerie and Nottingham in general has felt really quiet apart from people exercising on green spaces, but today I saw at least four / five 10+ groups of lads just sat around having cans, kicking a football about, sunbathing, riding bikes etc. They can't all be living in the same gaff. One lad walked into a park next to Uni of Nottingham with three ****ing pizzas and two coffees for ****s sake.

Except Alzheimers isnt contagious and doesnt have the ability to leap from 69,000 a year to 250,000 a year at the drop of a hat.

Cant help feeling wave 2 here we come.  Watching Japan closely now.

I'm not suggesting we lift everything instantly. And remember the peak we got to was 'achieved' with zero measures, i.e. life as normal.

Out doing deliveroo today, literally every single street had about 50% of households sitting round on the road or outside their driveways, lots of mini gatherings where it blatantly wasn’t just one household either. Don’t think I’ve ever seen as many people mixing on streets as I did today.

The peak was achieved off the back of locking down .... how much higher would it have gone without that ?? Obviously a lot is the answer .... unless you mean we had  a peak because we enforced measures but the next peak with relaxation of lockdown would be a more suppressed one as we would be relaxing from a lockdown situation ??

I feel like it's choose your battles at the moment. People want to socialise. If they're doing it outside then I don't think it's a huge problem. Instinctively I would guess open plan offices, cramped pubs and public transport are the places where the virus will spread.

Well I ballsed up a little bit today but on the plus side COVID will be a nice little birthday present.

I don’t know how true this is but apparently trade unions have been given a heads up about Boris’s speech on Sunday and I’ve been told it means Garden centres open, you can socialise with 4 people outside your house hold. Another point that stood out was hotels and campsites planning to open in late July.

Whoa, the peak we could have achieved with zero measures would have been quite spectacular.

I'm aware of the details of a lot of NHS discussions locally, without the public co-operation that has happened over the last few weeks the numbers would have been on a different scale.  The numbers have never been anywhere what was expected/feared.  And believe me there was genuine fear and there still is.

Yet public transport has clearly changed very little in the last 7 odd weeks.

It’s imperative that this nation begins to unlock. It’s really simple. If we don’t make a start on Monday, and take the stance that Scotland are taking, millions will be on the breadline when they do finally unlock.

Im not suggesting a complete release, obviously. We need to get the cogs moving now, however slowly that is. If we don’t, in 12 months time the dickheads will be out saying that the governmemt didn’t unlock soon enough.

This wasn’t directed at you @bovril. Just a point you made.

Yes, but we have social distancing now.

A quick look at Sweden and, domestically, the lack of supermarket workers dropping dead, should ease fears.
