Popular Post Chocolate Teapot Posted 5 June 2020 Popular Post Share Posted 5 June 2020 The bit for me on chilwell is the 4 years left on his contract, means he'll go for at least 60m in my opinion. Our club generally let players go on our terms and if one players is expandable in our team its probably chilwell.
ealingfox Posted 5 June 2020 Share Posted 5 June 2020 Seeing 40-50m being banded about which isn't enough for me at todays prices, pandemic or not, even if just in terms of the optics. Need to make a statement as we did with Maguire and be stubborn robbing cvnts about it.

I think there needs to be a minimum of 4 in the 25 man squad? 14 hours ago, brucey said: To be fair we did that with Barnes last time out in the CL when he was nowhere near our first team and hadn't even been out on loan yet. Being part of a CL squad and getting some minutes might be good for their mental development, and possibly get better loan clubs interested. Was Barnes actually in the 25 man squad or because of his age and was club trained he could be called up anyway? We still would have had to have 4 club trained players in the 25 (King, Schlupp, Chilwell, ??) I never recalled Barnes being named in the squad prior to Ranieri announcing he'd be travelling with the squad to Porto as a result of his performances for the U23's. You might be right, my memories of the rules are hazy. KDH is still 21, turns 22 in Sept, I'm not sure what that means for his eligibility to be an extra squad member. Knight and Iversen are both 22 so we could bring them.
StriderHiryu Posted 5 June 2020 Share Posted 5 June 2020 After seeing Mahrez go for 60m and Maguire for 80m, I can't see Chilwell going for less than 60m, even with the Corona pandemic. Ricardo cost 20m was it, so ballpark we need 20-30m for a replacement and we also have to be careful about whom we sell our players to... this season we are above Chelsea and Man U, but if we keep selling players to these clubs we won't be able to continue to outperform them. Mahrez always has a blinder against us for Man City and they are above us!

Anything less than 60 and we've been had royally again by Chelsea, just like Kante. 7

Ric Flair Posted 5 June 2020 Share Posted 5 June 2020 Absolutely zero chance we entertain talks until the majority of this season is concluded, not when Ricardo is out and we've only Fuchs and Justin available.

Ian Nacho Posted 5 June 2020 Share Posted 5 June 2020 If we sell Chilwell for £80m in a market where there’s no fans going to games, we really have had their pants down Don’t get me wrong, Chilwell is a class player, even if he has had an inconsistent season, but I think the £80m to reinvest into the squad would improve the team a lot more than having Chilwell in it.

You don't have to have four club trained players, you just can't name a full 25 if that's the case. We can name at least 23 players if Chilwell goes (Choudhury, Barnes + 4 association trained + 17 foreign). If the club keeps any other club-trained player born in 1998 or earlier around next season, they also count - Knight, KDH could be there as emergency cover. I think Iversen just misses the cut-off to have been here for 3 years before his 21st birthday.
EverybodyDannsNow Posted 5 June 2020 Share Posted 5 June 2020 £60m or higher and you have to take it in my opinion. Decent player, England regular and good age, but there are too many inconsistencies in his game to turn down a huge sum like that. Out of him, Ricardo, Soyuncu, Ndidi and Maddison, Chilwell is the one we’d miss the least. I have no doubt about that.

That market is temporary - he’s gone forever ! as we saw with maguire, buying a replacement after you’ve sold someone for big money is tough. Harry was only here to get another move once he got his England call up chillwell for less than 75m to a club with Chelsea’s resources is bollux

Lionator Posted 5 June 2020 Share Posted 5 June 2020 Throwing around money like that in this climate does seem a bit risky to say the least. We could take that fee and pay off all of Leicestershire NHS & charities costs for the pandemic and still get a couple of great replacements. Hales Posted 5 June 2020 Share Posted 5 June 2020 Im sorry but I cannot my head around the fact we could possibly sell him to Chelsea who are close rivals in the league? Thats really bad business. If he really needs to be sold (which i dont think he does) then not too Chelsea!!!!

Kante Mahrez Maguire Even with all the sales we make only 1 million profit on last accounts, massive wages to turnover ratio, KP revenue destroyed by covid, I be surprised if we dont sell a first teamer. Arguably Maguire was sold to league rival as we was expected to be going for a CL spot this season. Edited 5 June 2020 by Chrysalis

I've no problem with it if the player is expendable and/or the fee is obscene. With Maguire and likely Chilwell it's going to be both and that's is just too good to turn down.
urban.spaceman Posted 5 June 2020 Author Share Posted 5 June 2020 Just like the Maguire deal, we've put ourselves in an extremely strong position. We don't want to sell and we don't need the money. World record fee or GTFO. Chilwell has 4 years left on his contract with a lot of wriggle room to offer him more. We now view the "top" teams as direct rivals so have a vested interest in not selling them. Young, home grown, English, International. European football and an exciting club future. Still have a policy of selling no more than one major player a summer. Which I think we'll reduce to none this year. SO if we do sell him this summer, it will be on OUR terms and nobody else's.
moore_94 Posted 5 June 2020 Share Posted 5 June 2020 Hope we make sure we have a replacement lined up this time rather than waiting until after like with Maguire so other clubs don't try to take advantage of us like Bournemouth, Brighton and Burnley were trying
