This is genuinely disgusting. How the FA and the Prem can see this and think we're doing enough to protect players is beyond me.

This story should be the nail in the coffin that takes head assessments out of the hands of players and club doctors, and given to neutral, head assessment doctors.

Also, if Vertonghen was suffering for 8 or 9 months, he shouldn't have been anywhere near a football pitch.

Talksport was just discussing whether there is still a top 6 anymore lol now we have broke into the top 6 it's not a thing now.. are these people for real

Hahaha I had that on and I swear they said that the top 6 of last season will be the top 6 this season but in a different order. They went on to talk about Spurs and Arsenal (who finished 8th and are currently the absolute pits) and didn't mention us at all who finished 5th and are again in the mix.

When it is clear it isn't working, what else does a club do now that we have transfer windows where signing anyone useful in January comes at double the price?

I can only think of us with Pearson and Norwich with farke that have stuck it out, and many wanted Nige out after we drew with hull with about 10 games to go (or even before).

Is it not working though? They've hardly backed him in the transfer market and I'd say they are where you'd expect a team coming up from the championship with little investment to be. They've not been embarrassed too much this season and are only a few weeks away from being able to address any short comings in the squad whilst still being in striking distance of safety.

Has it not changed to 'BIG 6' now so Arsenal can still be included?

Sorry @UniFox21 but did you actually read the article?

It states that he was assessed by an independent Neurologist who specialises in Sports related Concussion.

There's absolutely no evidence whatsoever to back up Vertonghen's claims - quite the opposite in fact - as the medics that assessed him by his own admission ruled it out. Bear in mind he'll have had all the necessary scans at the appropriate time to determine any damage/risk and that the medics in question will not only be governed by their own association guidelines but also the protocols of affiliates such as Fifa, Uefa, PL, EFL, FA, etc. Add in the fact that employment laws in this country place a great deal of emphasis on employers maintaining a duty of care towards their employees, something doesn't add up.

To me this article comes across as the player using this injury as a suitable excuse to cover for his dip in performance.

It's a very serious subject and one that needs addressing at every level of the game right from children playing in the street to the most elite. More needs to be done make no mistake however in this instance I'm not convinced that the facts are being reported accurately.

Yep. Just mind games. Mourinho is a master and he knows how to play all this.

Honestly think big sam to west brom is good for West brom :dunno: He's good at what he does and what he doesn't isnt anywhere near as awful as people make out.

They could get in JC himself and with their squad he wouldn't keep them up!..

But at least they'd get a good feeding with fishes and loaves.

I don’t see how Allardyce is going to make a huge difference, they lack the quality to score enough to get them out of trouble. Even if they become very tight at the back you still need to score enough - I rate Karlan Grant (I’d have him here actually) and Pereira is decent but they lack PL standard attacking players.

It’s understandable given the turnaround between the seasons, normally promoted sides have a few months to recruit but WBA didn’t and nor does the financial situation lend itself to overhauling a squad. I feel a bit sorry for Bilic because I don’t really see what more he could have done.

Whilst Fulham had a rocky start they recruited well and had extant quality already. The bottom of the league is actually fairly strong too now, Newcastle, Villa, West Ham and Palace have got their act together. Brighton have enough about them to be fine. Sheff United are down, Burnley and Fulham are in the mix so I think it’s quite short sighted

It's just an admission that they have run out of ideas and are going with the obvious option out of desperation.

From Pulis to Pardew to Allardyce lol

In Bilic they finally found a manager who doesn’t play boring football, now they can’t help themselves but revert back to the style that made them so boring and shit.

Being a West Brom fan has to be one of the most depressing experiences in all of football.

Well they were more than likely gonna go down. Nows the time to get him in if that's what they're thinking aswell. 2 weeks with the squad to have a look then a transfer window. Its hardly a 'oh we just want to finish 17th forever' move.

They've currently scored 10 goals and conceded 26 in 13 games...

It's not exactly the oppositive of "shit".

Feel a bit sorry for Bilic, sacked if you don't get promoted and sacked if you do. But they were lucky to get promoted.

They've been poor but haven't exactly been backed too much, and with limited summer to build a squad. Most of their budget went on signing players they had on loan. Too many championship players in the squad. Always feel sorry when clubs appoint someone instantly, lack of respect to the current manager as they've obviously been speaking to Sam already.

To be expected for a squad like theirs.

Their squad is very much Championship standard, in the Championship though, Bilic got them playing some nice football and added some flare to their side.

Now they are set to go back to the boring style that they had under Pulis and Pardew, all they need to do now is give Mark Hughes a run as manager at some point.
