Mahrez like goal tonight, shifting the defenders and curling around them once he got at bit of space. Reminded me if Riyad against Chelsea.

My only worry is that Southgate will continue to think Mason Mount is a better player than Maddison.

Southgate is a grade A dumbass. He thinks Winks & Mount are the two best English mids out there

Interesting he has his best game in about a year following this thread ;)

I feel we better with wingers still but after that performance Rodgers love in wont be going anywhere.

He has taken notice ;)

Nice to see that he was willing to give up some freekicks, worked other combinations with corners (nice crosses from Justin and Albrighton by the way), starting to recognise that to take it to the next level he needs to know how to bring in other players as this is what sets apart good players from real playmakers (eg. by passing the ball early, giving others space, making runs himself, letting others take freekicks who are better placed etc). Some way to go, but nice work Madders.

(Though as an aside I think you are right ... we still have much more to give on the wings with Under and Barnes, and later on Ricardo and Castagne, plus Justino. Also we have a resurgent Perez and a decent Nachos to take on that No. 10 role just behind the striker. We have some team if Rodgers can get his formation and selection right, but as @StriderHiryusaid we will probably not see the best attacking team this season in full force unfortunately. For me, with Rodgers’ preference, it seems unlikely that we will see all the names mentioned in this paragraph start or be on the pitch all at once as frustrating as it may be to us and there will be give and take.)

The best thing about last night was that Maddison actually stepped up and was a real match winner for us. Too often we've been found wanting when either he or Tielemans has a slow game. Youri wasn't at his best last night but Maddison was at the heart of a lot of the good football we played and stepped up. Positive drives forward, and getting himself into the box. The finish for his second goal was outright disgusting. His best game since this time last year, oozing with quality. He said it himself post match, we can't just rely on Vardy's goals to get us through, so to see him with an assist last week and two goals this week is really encouraging and hopefully he's now back to his best. More of the same on Wednesday Madders.

Agree he has that ability just dosent do it often enough..

If he plays like he did yesterday every game then we will probably win the league. .. can he maintain it though let's hope so!

Don't get me started on Winks. He is s championship midfielder at best. And his only career prospect should be becoming a Liam Payne lookalike

Continues to support the theory that when he is on, Tielemans becomes rather ineffective. Either Tielemans is just not aggressive enough (which is his problem) or it is a chemistry thing. This game was crying out for a change in central midfield (no aggression and no control there) and Praet should have come on to play with Tielemans second half.

Useless against anyone in the top half of the table. Thinks he is better than he is. Linked with Man Utd but lucky to get in our side.

He's just doesn't take games by scruff off the neck against teams who are difficult to play against. He might be ok for better sides as they have quality everywhere but for us he is our main man and he's too easy to play against.

Might be controversial but Praet is better in our side than Maddison - the team is better as a whole.

Agree, I'm team Praet all the way! More consistent, does the dirty work and has more grit than Maddison.

There is a reason teams don't really play with a number 10 anymore. Bruno Fernandes is probably the nearest thing but he can play a bit deeper. Maddison has to be able to play successfully as a number 8, have more power and pace to make a difference.
