Even “key” chances can be misleading as they do not tell you how good the weight of the ball is, how good of an angle of the pass it is, whether it is slightly behind the player, etc. Better than assist stat but nothing replaces actually watching the games in full and following the whole context.  This is why TV pundits are often so bad with their opinions when they don’t and can’t watch all the games and rely on stats and soundbites to appear knowledgeable to justify their pay, fanning misconceptions.

Sorry Ric should have been more clear on my post. I was on about us being the most proflic team from chances created and converting chances. Would penalties count in that or🤷‍♂️

Maddison's xA last season was 7.4 so he was let down by our finishing quite badly but still as our most advanced and main creator I feel he's not reached anywhere near the levels I was hoping for. 

82 apps, 18 goal, 12 assists - certainly not bad but ~10 goals and 10 assists should be what he's achieving given his talent.

This is correct. Mesut Ozil for example, created a shed load of chances in 15/16 but they were being squandered by Giroud and Welbeck.  If he had Van Persie on the end of those chances Ozil would have broken the all time PL assist record.
