The damage to Thomas's potential is going overlooked here.

Essentially, he's now going to be scrutinised when he shouldn't be in that position. He's a young man with bags of potential and shouldn't be being thrown into the team under these circumstances.

Castagne's not even been that bad.

Rodgers hiding behind this 'not training well' bollocks is cowardly because it hits his pride and ego and he knows fans can't say much without credence. He sees the players, we don't. But nonetheless, we can all be pretty sure it's because Castagne calls out the poor performances.

Jesus there’s deeper thought that goes into 3 words that BR says than an A Level book club does whilst reading Wuthering Heights.

Any reporter asking any manager

Q. How does ‘x’ player get back into the team

A. By training well

Its a generic press (almost sarcastic) comment as to not get bogged down in detail

ps Castagne is 1 of a few players that Rodgers has put up there in print as to the type of player he wants at the club, there is no issue between them.

I really want Thomas to be good as a Leicester lad but in the main he has been very underwhelming in his appearances for us in my view. I know he's still young but he seems to lack the pace, athleticism and energy you see from the typical PL full back. Of course that might come in time but I have seen no sign that it will so far. By contrast, you could see that Chilwell had those qualities when he was breaking through.

Castagne is one of our best defenders. And this season he has certainly been no worse than the other defenders.

Justin and Thomas seem to get away with poor performances constantly.

Do we even have any evidence or quotes for what TC has said/done?

“By training well” is hardly grounds for the hysteria and conspiracy theories here

Castagne is often a 'glass half empty' kinda guy in interviews. Calls it as he sees it. I, like many here, like that but I can get the others are not so appreciative. Many Rodgers is one such?

Let's be fair to Rodgers though, perhaps 'training well' is simply a summation of a number of things which, out of context, we misinterpret. Having said that however, Rodgers strikes me as someone who knows exactly what he's saying and the similarity with his remarks on Cags is striking. They were not poorly chosen words. Imho, on the face of it, to publicly say that a pro (international no less) isn't training well is bordering on an attempt at humiliation.

God's honest truth, I think he's losing (or lost) the players. Alienating them, calling them out. If they're not 'training well' it's because, imo, they're losing faith in him and his methods.

Yet Chilwell's performances stalled under Rodgers and he too started to get stick off the crowd. Amazing really how well he's turned it round since moving?

Any young lad trying to get a first team spot will do exactly as ordered by his manager when given his opportunity. From where I sit, at times you can actually see Rodgers micro-managing him and we all know what a wondrous magician and knowledgeable sage he is regarding defending!

Perhaps we haven't seen the best of Luke because he's only been able to show limited amounts of natural talent of his own.

He's undoubtedly dedicated to the cause. However  when some query his ability to play in the opposition's end of the pitch, the fact that he was actually brought up as an attacking player seems to not be know by some. I've seen him make strides to move forward on occasions only to be castigated by Rodgers, so what's the lad supposed to do,  because to ignore his manager is only going to go one way. Also, he, like Chilwell, is offered very little defensive support on that side at times and is sometimes over-run. There's a very talented young player in there and sadly he'll probably be yet another who will have to move on to progress if this clown 🤡 stays much longer. I would think a number of our younger players will be questioning their future's under the current regime.

Crazy how Rodgers wanted balance yet the defence kept getting dragged to the left and it was very narrow, yet Brighton were still targeting our left side. They had so much space on the right but still chose to attack Thomas.

Because Thomas is the weaklink to target. Simple as that.

Strange comments from Rodgers about why he was dropped against United, something along the lines of we have conceded too many goals, maybe he got the blame / a bollocking for Sterling’s opener?

I wouldn’t worry too much though, he was due to start vs Villa so I’m sure he’ll be back this weekend.

Interesting so why has he not played him, and if he is the type of player he wants why has he not played him, I think people reading into his comments have a fair point based on the fact Castagne hasnt started, out of interest what's your take on him not playing?

Was Iversen due to start? I heard a murmur...

“Why Brendan Rodgers insists there will be ‘no excuses’ from his Leicester City players.

City are planning to move into their new £100m base at Seagrave in the very near future and the manager has told his squad it should give them the perfect environment in which to improve“
