Arsenal wanted up to £8m including various add ins which put Brentford off and they went for Toney instead. Good shout Ric they are very similar players either would be perfect additions for the long term. Both have great pace and like to sit on the shoulder of the last man, they both show they can make those runs in the channels and have technical ability, all very Vardy esq. I went for Eddie as he’s obviously further down the line in progression and he does look a little more refined than Folarin imo. I would imagine Arteta will be looking at both as his front pair / part of a 3 once he gets rid of the dross and has time to shape his squad so probably pipe dream on either sadly.

Having some like Traore in your side is so threatening. oppo full backs wouldn’t bomb on knowing they can’t leave their side of the pitch exposed. I'm afraid it is about goals and assists when it comes to wingers with us, as all of ours are very erratic and we have been striving to find one who brings 15-20+ goal contributions a season for us to progress. Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 24 December 2020 Share Posted 24 December 2020 He's so easy to nullify - we did it well, Burnley managed it the other night, too. Restrict the amount of space he has to run into and he's almost completely out of the game. We need a winger but it isn't him by any stretch. Every player can be replaced. Some take longer than others. Kante goes, we signed Ndidi 6 months later and never looked back. Mahrez goes, we've been through Ghezzal, Gray, Perez, Under. Ollie Watkins would have been a good signing but unfortunately that ship has sailed now.

He will thrive in a limited team in the bottom half (Palace, Newcastle) but totally useless in a team like ours who try to play progressive passing football. I'm not sure we need a direct replacement for Vardy, not yet anyway. An interchanging front three of Barnes - Sarr - Under would score goals IMO. Plus that way we'd have a player on the bench we could utilise in any of the attacking three positions, rather than having someone sitting around waiting for JV to retire. Rapid and has the occasional flash of brilliance but, also often looks clumsy and out of control. A better built and faster Paolo Wonchope 🤣🤣. Perhaps a tad unfair but I can't help but laugh when I think of him, he was quite unplayable really in fairness because even he didn't know what he was about to do, if legs could have tourettes, then his did. 😂
Popular Post StriderHiryu Posted 24 December 2020 Popular Post Share Posted 24 December 2020 Traore is one of those super frustrating footballers in that on paper he has everything needed to be a world beater. He was even trained at La Masia, the Barcelona academy so from a technical standpoint has possibly the best training a kid can get, on top of his freakishly amazing physical statistics. He's fast, strong and technical, but is a very poor decision maker. Luckily football isn't just about physical attributes, thank god. Which is why a small diminutive players like Leo Messi, Diego Maradona, Gianfranco Zola can reach the very elite levels of the game. Leicester City have a fairly small target man called Vardy who's apparently not too shabby either I can definitely see many clubs go in for Traore to try and fix his game, and to be fair a coach like Bielsa, Klopp, Guardiola, Rodgers, could probably get a much better tune out of him than some of the managers he's played under in the past. But at the end of the day, some players just don't "get" the overall picture of a football match, and we've had quite a few players like that at the club over the years such as Lloyd Dyer (still a hero!), Jeff Schlupp and Demarai Gray. Traore is definitely in that category, which is a shame for him given that it's very rare to find a player blessed with such phenomenal physical stats. 1 on 1 I don't think any player in the world will beat Traore more than 2 times out of 10. At our club I think we are lucky that we have quite a few players who do have good decision making, despite their stature. Vardy is massively underrated for his football intelligence, but also the likes of Ricardo, Tielemans, Maddison too. I also think Luke Thomas is one to watch out for in this category, when I see him play the thing that impresses me the most isn't his crossing, it's awareness of the bigger picture. He's not as fast or as physical as Chilwell (yet) and might not ever be. But he's very football intelligent for a young player.
lcfc sheff Posted 24 December 2020 Share Posted 24 December 2020 Tbf, although I’d like another winger I do think we’ll be reluctant to sign another one until the summer and we see if we’ll sign Under permanently or not... we’d all love thauvin but it’s probably not the priority position over a CB or Striker IMO
Popular Post kingfox Posted 24 December 2020 Popular Post Share Posted 24 December 2020 Funny how this forum works, many loving the Ismaila Sarr suggestion, many shitting on the Adama Traore one. Both have done nothing of note this season, wouldn’t touch either of them with a barge pole atm. As for an understudy to Vardy, the sooner we get one the better, Ollie Watkins would have been perfect, but of course Villa snapped him up. Players like Donyell Malen and Patson Daka will get snapped up soon enough, don’t want to miss the boat on talents like them.

He's a powerful pacey winger who can be v effective in a counter attack system but needs to improve his end product especially crossing when playing out on the wide right. Liverpool were v interested in him last Summer but Watfords asking price of 40 mill ended their interest. Maybe his price would come down if Watford fail to secure promotion this season and he tries to force a move. A lot will depend on how Under does in the second half of the season as he looks more of a player who can go past opposition defenders who sit deep with his dribbling skill and can also put a decent cross in. Popular Post honeybradger Posted 24 December 2020 Popular Post Share Posted 24 December 2020 Im interested in us transferring Under from the bench into our starting XI, hopefully after the Man United game at the very latest. He's exactly what we need on that right flank, it's just that some of our fans havent realised it yet.
