Full back options without JJ

Thoughts please.

 

The ideal would obviously be Castagne and Ricardo for the bigger matches.

 

I guess Fuchs and Thomas are the automatic back ups for those two and even that would be playing one out of position.

 

At a push - Dan A and even Albrighton could step in if he wasnt needed so badly in the midfield against the better teams?

Ricardo and Castagne and Thomas as fill in. As much as I love Fuchs I'm not sure he has the pace anymore? VDC may get some more game time too. He seemed steady.

Luke Thomas and he makes the Euro's squad. When he does, I'll go and do my ACL again up the Fox & Tiger.

...not Albrighton in the defence....it does not work, he is not good in that role!!!

You have to start trusting Thomas in a back 4. All this bollox about him being a young lad he’s gonna have to step up. Playing in the premiership he’s gonna come up against quality players. 
I’m sorry but you can’t be playing Fuchs.

Hopefully we will play a back 4 and Thomas steps up to get more game time. Castagne can play either side as well when he’s back

Could really do with not playing Liverpool next  

 

A game against a mid-table team he may put Thomas in at left back in a 4 but really think he'll bring Amartey or Fuchs in a back 3 tomorrow, with Thomas at wing-back.

Great opportunity for young Thomas. Remember Justin only really got in the team at the beginning of the season because of injuries, but just look how he grabbed that opportunity.

 

Playing games consistently is the only way you'll truly grow as a player, so hopefully the same happens for Thomas. 

 

So gutted for Justin though. Most improved player in the Premier league and on the cusp of an international call up. Devastating.

Hopefully Luke Thomas is given a go, when he's played he's linked up really well with Barnes.

Could be the making of Thomas.

 

Thinking of JJ, at the back end of last season he got a run of games but wasn't particularly impressive. BUT, those games levelled him up and got him ready, which is why he hit this season like a steaming freight train. Thomas will now get quite a few games, which will really help his development. Daley-Campbell will probably get a few games too.

 

Importantly though we need to lay off these new players coming in. They are going to be raw and make mistakes because in reality they are not ready yet.

Our fully fit starting options are fine, Castagne and Ric, the issue is the dramatic drop off from 2 proven, internationals to an ageing fuchs, 2 youth prospects and Amartey. With both starters being in and out of the treatment room themselves, and the number of games we could end up playing this season, it’s a big loss.

I mean obviously Ricardo and Castagne but neither of them are 100% themselves (just one of them).

 

I'd rather play Thomas and have him make some mistakes than wheel out Fuchs yet again.

Ricardo and Thomas are hands down the best 2 available. When castagne is back then Thomas drops down to 3rd choice. It's not even a conversation

Castangne is having trouble with muscle injuries and Ricardo is a danger to pull something if he does too much too soon. With hopefully Europa League and Premier League games think and fast we will have to manage them.

One good game and we pitch him in against Liverpool, a game such as this with our previous results against them, could destroy him. If it does not happen on the pitch he will be lambasted via social platforms.

  He plays on the right hand side, we are asking too much for him to cope playing in a position he will not have played before and if he had experience of doing so, look what team he would be up against.

Unfortunately JJ isnthe best defender. I've been harping on for weeks now he's one if the best one on kne defenders in the league. 

 

Wolves last week, poor Ricardo ripped a new one whilst JJ got a narrow points victory over just about the toughest winger in the league

I'd play Amartey at right back and move Castagne or Ricardo over rather than have to play Fuchs.

 

There aren't any games at this stage of the season now where i'd want Fuchs starting. Fine for dead rubber European games/competitions we aren't taking seriously, but that doesn't apply any more.

Mitch Clark is such a good prospect but he's just come back from a torn ankle ligament.
