The next thing you'll see is these games taking place abroad. You'll definitely see El Classico in Saudi Arabia and Man United vs Liverpool in Los Angeles etc.

Didn't they try to do this in La Liga not long ago but player power stopped it?

A lot of these changes can quickly fall flat on its arse with players taking control, which i know is easier said and done. But if Messi, Haaland, De Bryune etc. all state they will not play in this Super League other big names will follow soon.

Football is nothing without players (and fans) and there will be players that will play in it due to £££, but the Super League is meant to all be about big name players, if they refuse to play then what will happen.

A Few players have started to come out, fingers crossed a player from the confirmed teams for the ESL comes out and disregards it, could open the gates for the rest.

I know this has been in the pipeline a while, but it has been widely criticised hasn't it? Just seems a weird coincidence they've chosen to approve it today - it's like they're hoping no one will pick up on it as they're so enraged by the Super League that this will seem a better alternative. It's not, and it still gives precedence to those clubs who are self-proclaimed as being worthy of competing at the highest level.

What does the new changes do? The ones that Uefa are trying to implement

Basically a few teams that don't qualify on merit will be allowed in as wild cards based on their Uefa coefficient

Supporters groups are also removing their flags/displays from inside the ground

This is what needs to be done. When we can't show our anger through boycotting the games, show it through removal of our support/tifos etc.

  • Expansion from 32 teams to 36.
  • 2 "Wildcard" places for teams with "sporting merit" to qualify.
  • One single 36 team league with guaranteed minimum of 10 matches per team
  • Top 8 qualify for knockout stages
  • 9-16 play off for right to get to knock-outs

If this sounds shite, it's because it is. It is a compromised way to guarantee more income to the top clubs in the game to avert the Super League.

So does that mean that you don’t go into the Europa league if you fall out of the champions league? That was the most stupid thing.

Should bolt the gates up whilst they are there

Make me laugh how they have increased the league element, when the group element is the part fans find the most boring!

Just watching Sky Sports News and they are deriding this scandalous decision BUT they are the ones who set this big 6 bollocks up in the first place which has given them all delusions of grandeur.

They are as guilty as anyone else for what has happened.

Spot On. Also, let's not act like they won't be bidding furiously for the TV rights for it.

ESL gaining almost universal disapproval and derision. Who would have thought trying to destroy football would unify us all more than almost anything else.

The people behind this are actual morons with all the money and no common sense.

I expect Klopp to walk today or tomorrow. I think Pep will stay. OGS will likely stay. But this has got to be a gut punch to managers and players alike.

Totally agree, but they are convinced people will want to see the matches regardless, even though this has proven to be not the case. There was a period in the early 2000's when there were two group stages in the Champions League and unsurprisingly no one wanted to watch the 3rd/4th dead rubber matches in the second stage because there was no difference in finishing position.

@UnabomberNo more dropping into the Europa League, which I agree is moronic, but again done so teams get a minimum guaranteed revenue stream, see Man U this season.

No chance, these clubs will all backtrack on the Super League now they've got the CL reforms. UEFA come out of it looking like heroes and the supporters will get a big apology from the clubs, and all will be forgotten.

Something seriously fishy about this

Yep.  And Laura Woods, Ali McCoist and Jim White were on TalkShite this AM deriding it, but I cannot see them refusing future ESL TV work, once offered.  Hypocrites.

So reading some of the 'big twat 6' forums today, there seems to now being more of an acceptance of this, blaming the greed and corruption of FIFA and UEFA for this happening.

They seem to be failing to understand that their clubs have just created the most corrupt and greedy format there could be. Modern football, plastic followers and entitled clubs and fans can go and **** themselves up the arse.

I would be ashamed if Leicester were involved in this and even more ashamed if they accepted an invite to play in it.

The backers of this think greed will carry it through on all levels - they’re probably right.

It can only be defeated if everyone, including fans, TV companies, pundits,  commentators, refs and everyone else refuse to join in.

The money, though, will sway many.

I Dont want to create Another topic...So I will use this to Bounce off

In reality this & other Threads have said it all..Not much more to say..

So Bottom line..!!

If " The Good guys" cant turn this around, & Dont Ban clubs or players from Eufa/Fifa competitions

and Football then becomes a Split Organisation of tolerance. and comprimise...

When would you as a fan say "enough is enough"..... ??

I am Not going to support profi-football, either by my presence or watching it on Tv....then only lower League football...!!!

If Leicester city were to join this super-League or Another Soft touch compromise....would you still support Leicester city or Football at all...!!

I know from my Stance that will Close my book in being even interested in watching profi-football..!!
