British people (English in particular) are not very good at protest or revolution. We’re ultimately very passive as people, which is why the country is currently being done over by crooks with no recourse.

But you’re absolutely right: fans DO have the final say, as long as we have the resolve to vote with our feet.

Examples? I disagree. When there is a subject that actually matters to people, we get the level of protest right imo. Poll tax, miners strikes, Brixton, Iraq war etc. If the subject matter is close to people’s hearts, the English do it well.

We kick all six of them down the leagues and only three will be getting promoted in that first year, throw in a bit of FFP Mwhahahahahah! :D

Can’t believe I’m saying this but fair deal to the ‘French’ (!) and German clubs for simply refusing to be included.  Bayern Munich is a massive and highly respected European club, so how could the ESL even be credible without them? .... oh sorry; yes, just toss the money loving ‘forget the game’ Arsenal owner into it and he’ll guarantee their inclusion ... or even worse ‘this’ll be our year .... oh bollocks!’ Tottenham into the mixer instead! .... the awful Americanisation of European football is seriously threatening the very fabric of it with the ESL merely breaking the clubs into franchised assets and sod the fans.

Football is not the only thing that has sold out to commercial interests much more here than on the continent.

Their statement of intent has also been reported by that helmet at Real Madrid that they've signed contracts. Legally there's enough to remind these 6 in England what will happen and then it's down to them if they want to back track and try and repair what they've caused or go ahead and face the avalanche.

Jurgen Klopp's entire career has been founded on synergy with the fans.

This is his moment to make a real long term difference to LFC by leading the players and fans against this.

He has their unwaivering support and simply must speak out in the strongest possible terms.

He hasn't backed the idea but he heavily criticised the stand Leeds took against the ESL, last night and criticised Neville referring to YNWA during his criticism.

I think with most of those examples the same government was voted back in at the next election.

Those protests went well. The Iraq war still happened and the entire mining industry shut down.

Barca, Real and June will fight tooth and nail for this, as they are financially fcked. They NEED this.

It is the devil or deep blue sea for those three

I can't understand why the owners of the PL six were so happy to do so much damage to bail them out. I guess that Glazer and FSG have always wanted a SL, and this had to happen now before those 3 went bankrupt

My understanding is that under Premier League rules, they won't be allowed to play in the Super League.  As for what sanctions the Premier League are allowed to impose, I'm not 100% sure, but ultimately expulsion should surely be an option? Or they might be able to change the rules and allow 6 teams to be relegated and give them all a 100 point deduction next season, ensuring they all go down.

It was a genuine question as I have no idea if they have breached any actual regulations but I am 100% convinced that each of them would have had a lawyer look at it before it was announced.

L.9. Except with the prior written approval of the Board, during the Season a Club shall not enter or play its senior men’s first team in any competition other than: L.9.1. the UEFA Champions League; L.9.2. the UEFA Europa League; L.9.3. the F.A. Cup; L.9.4. the F.A. Community Shield; L.9.5. the Football League Cup; or L.9.6. competitions sanctioned by the County Association of which it is a member.

In addition to the fact they broke the rules, as long as 14 members vote unanimously against the 6 they can be expelled at any time. As per discussions last night, this is unlikely due to concern around drop in revenue in the next broadcast deal. I would excpect most clubs to push for a points deduction. Sheffield United, West Brom and Fulham have nothing to lose in asking for sufficient deduction so as to relegate Arsenal or any others.

Extracts from the super league founders meeting:

F) Tottenham why do you think you should be included?
T) We have international appeal a big stadium .

F) can you compete

T) No but we can make it easier for the others, we just want money

F) But you will never win are you happy with that?

T) We can’t win anything anyway so more money for losing sounds good

F) Ok you are in

Excellent from Guardiola. This is what Klopp should have done, this is what Tuchel should have done. Come out and stand up to it, don't hide behind saying 'it's nothing to do with us'.

Lets give Klopp and Tuchel the benefit of the doubt considering Tuchel was the first to face the media at midday after it was released the previous night and for Klopp considering he had a game he had to focus solely on.

Peps interview wasn't as good as people are making out. He started off well then started ranting about Uefa and 5 substitutions and how every club acts with self interest and tried to deflect attention away from the super league.

I wonder how soon after the meeting of the 14 Premier League teams we'll start getting details of what's been said

There'll probably be a joint statement at the end of the day.

I believe his criticism was more coming from the position - “don’t aim your anger at the club, this is the owner and only the owner” . I felt there was a sense that they are against it just as much as everyone else and to have the criticism aimed directly at them as players/management was completely unjust.

To be fair it sort of made sense to me but did feel a bit like deflection tactics.
