He could drop his salary to get a move and for the rest of the season he can showcase his talent. The potential for a bigger salary to keep him there or for other buyers to come in for his services are there in less than twelve months. It would take a move in a commercial business and to be exceptional in your role and the fact that should you be attempting to move company within a short space of time could just count against you in regards to loyalty.

 It is just not the same.

I would think that most of the Italian sides are hurting financially right now. They still can't have full capacity crowds and I'm sure that pre-Covid, the Torino's of the world weren't exactly swimming in money. Watched a match this afternoon and the commentators were saying that too many mid table and lower Serie A sides aren't bothering to bring in Serie A talent - which tells me they're all broke. If he goes over there and puts a decent season together he may be in in line for something a lot better next summer.

That was my point, a fixed fee is all downside and no upside as they'll only pay it if he's a bargain at the fixed fee price.

Only about a £5m loss (if they make it permanent) which for some of our recent deals in selling players isn't too bad

Sad to see him go. The emergence of KDH probably means the time is right, but this is a player with real talent. Never hit quite the heights I think he is capable of with us, but he is reminiscent of Iborra and Kramaric for me in that you know this is a good player and good person, it just didn't work out with us.

 

I expect this deal to go through and wish him the best of luck in the future. And also a bit regretful he didn't get as many chances as I think he deserved. He's a far better player technically than Perez for me, even if they play somewhat different roles.

My sentiments exactly! Too good to be watching Ayoze Perez fall over after receiving the ball from one one of our CBs whilst watching on from the bench.

I don't agree with the way he was treated and expected better of "man manager" Brendan.  He is too good to sit on our bench.  Hope it's a good move for him and everything works out well.  It feels a sad sale for me when there are others that should go and deserve to go!

Bittersweet. I'm happy that he'll be moving to a club where he'll be appropriately used and appreciated, but I'm also sad that he never really got going here. IMHO, Brendan dropped the ball here.

I'm both sad and happy - happy he'll escape Rodgers, sad Rodgers doesn't see his value.  He'd be an every match starter if it were up to me but it'll never happen under BR, so no point in hoping otherwise.

Really like Praet. Quality player. It really shows how good our midfield options are that he couldn't break back into the team and also how highly KDH is rated. The injuries he's had haven't helped him nail down a place either. All the best to him.

Sad to see him go, would have liked to see us try him as a sort of winger in a 4-4-2 as a way to fit Iheanacho into the team, what do I know though. He is professional and a good player, hope he can shine at Torino.

IMO he should have at some point over the last 2 seasons have been given a 5-6 game run in the side in one specific position. That position could have been at number 10 in 4231 / 3412, as an 8 in the 4141 we played when Rodgers first got here, or as the 7 in the current 4231. The way we currently play we use Ricardo for width on the outside right so Praet could drift infield like Perez does. But Brendan should have picked one spot and given him his chance. I think he might have done at one point in 2019 but he got injured? I can't remember the pre-covid times!

 

If after a 5-6 game spell he was still indifferent, then sure cast judgement on him. But the frustrating thing is that having never been given a proper run in the side we don't really know how good he is. All of the following players all took their chances or improved massively after getting a good run in the side:

- Harvey Barnes

- Caglar Soyuncu

- Wesley Fofana

- Ricardo

- Wilfred Ndidi

- James Maddison

- Kelechi Ihenacho

- James Justin

- Luke Thomas

 

On recent form I would even add Daniel Amartey to that list. Forever derided on these forums, he's been given 4 starts at CB for the first time in his career and has been involved in 3 wins and a minor trophy. He's not going to set the world on fire, but he's looked like a good player in recent matches.

 

Look at the GIFs posted earlier. This guy has talent, and IMO has more talent than Ayoze Perez. He's never seemed to kick up a fuss either and has always trained professionally. He deserved a chance. Honestly I think Adrien Silva, Vicente Iborra and Papy Mendy were given longer runs in the first team than he was. And that to me is wrong.

 

Due to the emergence of KDH I do think it's time for him to go. But for me this guy is just like Kramaric in that there is a very good player here that we as a club did not utilise in the best way. Injuries also hit him at the wrong time.

Kg there is a season where we have to hold onto decent-honest-skillfull Front 6 players,this is it...

Yes we now have Soumare & KDH, Add Praet,there before us with just these 3 names is already a decent stand-alone midfield.I

Und you could still throw in, any one of Tielemans or Ndidi....Isnt that the idea, to create a potential Real Top 4 challenge...just an example..

For a youngish Jan-Feb-2022, rotation Set up, Cover or First Team ,knowing/expecting injuries..

Evans, Albrighton, Ricardo ,Benkovic,Amartey , Bertrand,Vestergaard are "our" top players,

we still have +2 spots most likely for goalkeepers , plus the potential  of any under age/academy players like Nelson..Thomas*

Choudhury ,Perez should be the ones missing out....But again if any Multiple heavy injuries,they are selectable

Honestly. I think it more shows the degree to which the manager has shltcanned him than it shows that.

I think if he leaves hopefully he'll open up where it went wrong. Always liked the guy, tried hard, can cross, finish and did his part defending. If Tielemans had got sold this season I'd have been more than happy to see Praet take his place.

 

I just can't wrap my head around it, we had times where players were injured and he still didn't always get a game. I've seen interviews and games and he doesn't seem argumentative, just can't work it out.
