Rodgers got it right in the second half, as he has done the majority of the games this season and it's why we have the 2nd best points rescued from losing situations. Why are we getting into that position so often though?

I stand by every comment I made in the match thread. He went ultra negative the moment he had something to hold onto.

I think we were favourite for every FA Cup match, although I gave him credit for playing strong teams early doors in the cup when a lot of people complained that he wasn't rotating the squads.

I think we're doing about as well as we should be. I'm not going to get carried away about us beating a team that was full of reserves, geriatrics and babies. I'm glad we won as I think champions league qualification is imperative this season while Liverpool and Spurs are under performing. Another season we'd be battling for 6th or 7th, which is fine. For me, this squad should be picking up 65-70 points a season on average.

If you think Rodgers is getting the best out of the team and we couldn't possibly be playing any better then fair enough. For me he's a bit too cautious when there's something to lose and it's just not a quality I like in a manager. It's a personal preference, I adore high energy attacking football and hate slow, defensive safety first football. Those first 8 or so months under Rodgers were a joy to behold.

I'm buzzing we've won as it takes us a step closer to champions league football and a real chance to add some much needed quality in depth to the squad to make us a 75 points a season team. I'm not enamoured with the way we're going about it and the constant requirement for massive second half performances and individual bits of quality being required to bail us out after a tame performance.

If we start as slowly as we have done the past 6 or 7 games, Chelsea will be out of sight before half time. I don't want that, it's a massive game and I want us fighting for every ball and showing a proper belief that we can attack and score goals. If we lose to the better team having shown some guts and effort I'll have no complaints and will be praising the lads. If we come out and show them too much respect and barely lay a glove on them, I'll be gutted.

Either way, I've got an all dayer planned on Saturday and my phone will be out of battery come kick off, so you'll all be spared my negative comments :D

But in those first 7/8 months we really struggled against the top sides in the league iirc. He was uncompromising in his set up and it got us walloped a few times.

Yes, he can be frustrating at times but I really believe he has matured as a manager.

452 words and the only praise being 'we've lined up strongly in the FA cup' and that Rodgers has managed to turn things around second half numerous times - but criticising him by the same token for our first half performances.

A simple 'well done Brendan and Co.' would have sufficed. But I get that it's too much to ask. But thanks for sharing the good news for the final :scarf::beer:

The funny thing is we’re just so unpredictable, yet I forecast three points from our last two games and we delivered.

You say that, but we lost at home and won away, basically mirroring our entire season :D

The amount of pressure they'd brought upon themselves was palpable. They were clearly nervous as hell.Had we lost it would have been 'game' over. The result was everything. This will prove to be a watershed moment in the history of our club. In the short term we now have a real chance in the cup final. In the longer term CL will provide the springboard to taking us to the next level. It wasn't pretty, but well done lads!.

Drinkwater still had his first crop of hair when Mata and Matic were worth that much lol

Is it better to compare wages across the two teams? That would only make the picture worse in all likelihood.
We've played 'weakened Big 6' teams before in previous seasons and come unstuck.

Matic was even having a great game until we took the initiative back second half and Mata was easily the hungriest player for them, which makes your comment even more bemusing.

Evans wont be fit with that issue but an injection could get him through the game and they may well decide to do that at this time in the season. Its just incredibly painful and takes forever to mend.

This guarantees european football next season......

Can't Everton still theoretically over take us? As well as Chelsea, WHU and Liverpool.

I’m not sure how I’m going to cope on Saturday, the stress from that game has honestly caused me problems.

I do I swear. We weren’t great at all but I wasn’t worried. We weren’t  a few goals down like we were to Newcastle so I was feeling lucky.

You are a far more trusting man than I. I was a ****ing wreck from their equaliser to the final whistle. With no faith whatsoever, but it's a fickle sport and that against man u reserves could be enough to spur our lads onto fa cup winners and champs league.

Woop Woop.

It don't have to be pretty

Yes, but Tottenham can't.

If all those 4 overtook us (mathematically possible but highly unlikely), we'd finish 7th - and be in the Euro-Conference thing (final European qualifying place).
