And some of their fans think we'll allow an 24 year old attacking player with 3 PL seasons and a European campaign under his belt, with 47 goals and assists in 118 matches, AND 3 years left on his current deal, leave for roughly the same amount.

Thinking about it, this is why Arsenal will continue to struggle. White may well be brilliant for them, but realistically what resale value would he actually have? Maguire had one season under his belt and we got him for £12m. Two seasons later we sold him at a £60m profit (minus sell-on clause to Hull). Could White become a £100m player? Their record sale is still Marc ****ing Overmars 21 years ago.

Tbf, the three you mentioned are genuine legends with credit in the bank, so to speak; Maddison is yet to earn that kind of credit.

 

I wouldn't be sorry to see him go if we are offered silly money.

BUT, I am saying nothing on Maddison. I don't believe its 100% yet that the Sun are definitely running it and I will answer zero questions about it.

 

My usual sources are saying absolute zip on this; (but interestingly not: 'why are you asking? Nothing has happened? Just 'can't comment').

Arsenal aren’t overly interested in resale value. If he’s good they’ll keep him and not sell him as there are few teams who can buy their players. If he’s good enough for Madrid, then they’ll make money.
