Tough watch, but nice to pinch it after the debacle on Monday. Still too passive and carrying a few at the moment but all things considered two wins from three in the situation we are in is a decent start. Barnes looks incredibly rusty, hopefully will get back to his level with time. Maddison still not involved enough but nice involvement in the winner hopefully gives him a lift. We still are far to passive. Norwich had more ball second half but didn’t do a lot with it until the last ten minutes. I’d have still bought Daka on even after Sharky scored to hit them on the break and make them think a bit more. Nacho has to start, made a big difference coming on. KDH looked composed and enjoyed his chant by the looks of things 🤣. Hope Ricardo isn’t out for too long. Get some rest and work on the fitness over the coming two weeks and go again against Man City 🦊💙

I've never felt concerned like this after a win before. When you scrape an undeserved 3 points it usually feels like an added bonus but I just feel so glass half empty atm.

I can't see this season being anything other than an absolute slog unless we pull something insane out of our backside in the transfer market this week. Defence is threadbare, with no realistic sign of returnees. Midfield look shattered/lost/shadows of themselves, we've no wingers in form (I know MA scored but that's his quota for the season now), and we may have 3 top strikers but one will be burnt out before the other 2 get a start. The squad is unbalanced, we treat set pieces like they don't count and the team effort and cohesion just seems to have vanished.

You know when you just feel something isn't right? I know we face Championship fodder every season and bend over for them, but all 3 performances so far this season tell me we're not gonna be at the races.

Someone tell me to get a grip and remember where we were 10 years ago please 🤦‍♂️🥴

To be fair, there’s one or two assists still to come 🤷🏽‍♀️

All we needed to do was recover from last week and limp to the international break. We’ve done that. We could have Johnny, Jannik both back and a new winger by Man City. Positivity going forward!

We are hardly plagued with Injuries we have a few out granted but it shouldn't make us play like we have for the past two games.

Having three centre backs and two fullbacks out, plus an additional injury at fullback during the game, who is then replaced by a player who's only just got back from injury himself, is quite unfortunate at best for what's only the third week of the season.

It's not the sole reason we've been so disjointed, but it'd clearly have an impact on virtually every side.

The in game injuries (and suspension) have had a notable impact too as it's both limited our substitutions to come on and change the game for the positive, and meant that we've had to reorganise midgame too.

As I said, we're not playing how any one of us would like and yet we've still picked up points and (hopefully) have some key players to return from injury and to form. Whether it'll ever be the case remains to be seen, but a fit Jonny Evans makes a world of difference to that side. So does an in form Barnes and Maddison too.

on a side note, did anyone catch the stream with Gary Birtles commentating? I've never heard a worst commentary in my life. I spat my coffee out when he said Kasper was the best kicker for distribution in the Premier League :crylaugh:

There are a few things commentators regularly say that make it painfully obvious they havent watched us properly for years:

- Schmeichel having great distribution

- Dangerous from set pieces

- Counter attacking team

I'm sure there's more.

I love madders and have defended him but think it's time to play kdh, I'd like to see soumare as well and despite loving vardy, for the love of God Brendan, let's rotate a bit.

Agree with all of this. I am not one for snap judgments and have faith in Brendan given all he’s achieved with us so far. But Maddison is currently not offering anything. We have two energetic and skilful number 8’s who could come in, but not a real like for like number 10. So the downside is a slight formation change. It could potentially work if one of Tielemans and Soumare/KDH push a bit further forward - it might be quite effective if they can rotate, so Vardy’s not isolated and we don’t lose that axis with Ndidi. The break gives us a chance to work on it, but would we go for that with Man City and Napoli up next?

Is it too late to get that 80 million quid for Maddison?

My angry Shep would suggest a straight swap for a couple of their cannons but all in seriousness keeping an out of form Maddison is better than their knicker wetting  fans getting their man like they thought they would.

That was horrible. I pity anyone who travelled to pay for that display. The one solace is the side has very little resemblance to one where everyone is fit.

Yep you are probably right to be fair mate I think we will see the impact of the defence injuries against any half decent attack ala West Ham, god forbid that we have Man City next.

What happened to Timmy? Was following the last few mins on Bet365 (at a wedding) and it just flashed up 'Castagne injured'.

Europa League is a distraction we can do with out to be honest ! we look leggy and tired at times, injuries are mounting already ! I would suggest contest the home games and rest lads for away games, I have a funny feeling this season will be a massive challenged to be anywhere near top 6

The Norwich disallowed goal was correct by the letter of the law but definitely one of those occasions where the law is an ass.

Absolutely no way Schmeichel is getting anywhere near that with or without Cantwell’s presence. It’s almost completely immaterial in the ball ending up in the goal.

Reminded me a bit of that goal West Brom had disallowed against Liverpool at the back end of last season before the Alisson winner.

He then excelled himself by remarking that Kasper had stayed rooted to his goal-line for a corner when "he normally comes out and controls the penalty area". lol

I mean, has he ever seen him play before?
