It’s about time we had a result like that!! Absolutely no way we were winning that then binked it from nowhere! Great feeling great result!!

6 points from those 3 is a great situation I think.

Onto the negatives though, we were absolutely awful! Like so so so bad!

We control the game in the middle but absolutely no creativity and very vulnerable at the back, and we were playing a team who I think we will soon see will go down by a mile!

Barnes looks a shadow of himself, can’t beat a guy and a flimsy final product, worried about him!

madders wtf is going on? Awful.

We really need a new winger with pace just as an option, we are too static and that is the biggest reason we don’t create much for a long time now.

I knew at the time letting Demari Gray might bite us and he’s looking good so far and someone who would walk into our team atm in a position we’ve needed for months!

Defence also need our injuries back, Amartey and Thomas did ok today but again it’s vs Norwich and they still caused us more than a few scares.

Really makes you appreciate how good Evans and Fofana are when you see this current set up.

All in all great result considering but we need to really sort it out because we will be lucky to get top 10 based on performances so far.

Agree with most of this really

Unfortunately I don't think we had much chance of keeping Gray as when he started games for us he wasn't that impressive and he didn't want to be on the bench for us which is the role he was offered, I have noticed as well that his goals for Everton so far have been on the break in space rather than against a deep block which we have to play against more so not too sure he would be that effective for us

I think Barnes is still just getting back up to speed really, had a moment in the 2nd half where he went through about 5 Norwich players (but then scuffed his shot) so I think we just need to stick with him to get that match fitness back into his legs

Hopefully once the defensive injuries go away and we get Evans and Vestergaard back the experience and their ability to play out from the back will help us out big time

I thought we were comfortable, if a little toothless, up until Norwich's penalty.  Knocking it about nicely, but with quite a bit more required from Barnes and Madders, neither of whom are fully firing.

Then 2nd half we looked a bit devoid of ideas and then Kevin stepped up for a goal that was a bit out of nowhere.

The last 10 minutes were poor.  We invited them onto us. A better team would have taken their chances.

Luke looked like was running on empty.

Still, 3 points :scarf:, and lets hope we have some defenders available after the international break.

Thought we were disgustingly bad and lucky to get anything out fo the game let alone a win.

Soyuncu, Tielemans, Maddison and Barnes really poor. We need so much more from those players.

3 points is 3 points but... woof.  That may about as depressing a win as I've seen in a long time.  We have a lot of dead weight on the pitch at the moment.

Also, presumably that has to be the final nail for Praet - if he's behind KDH in the pecking order now it's frankly a travesty to keep him around.  Surely he could be loaned to an Italian or Spanish club at least.

The three behind Vardy were absolutely shit. Obviously cult hero Albrighton will get a rimming for having a heavily deflected, chanced, hit and hope effort go in. But let's be honest, he was just as useless as the other two.

Barnes looks worryingly short of fitness and confidence, he's going to take some real nurture to get back to his best which is a problem when we have no cover. Madders is another one that's got to get himself in the right head space.

I'd honestly be considering trying to get Vardy, Daka and Iheanacho playing together whether it's at the top of a diamond or in some 433, either way. Not as a long term solution but definitely as a short term until Barnes can get back up to speed.

At the end of the day, you want to be playing whatever system gets your best players on the pitch.

This seems to be an issue not just for us but in modern football as a whole though.

You play (Or should) whatever system of style gets the best out of what you've got but it seems to be "You must play in this style, even if it doesn't work, you must do it!"

We were in such cruise control against one of the worst teams we have played for ages that I knew it would go wrong if we didn't get that 2nd goal. We messed up with misses and tragic decisions (Vardy not giving it to Barnes as he made a 40 yard run for one!), two easy Maddison chances and then a shocker of a pen. However, somehow we dig out an away day win!!

Amartey MOM, a confidence boost to a team that seem to be devoid of confidence with so many out of form players (Tielemans, Madders, Caglar to name 3), another Vards goal as well.

BTW the ref had a shocker!!!

This. When players are that out of form they need to feel their places are under threat. It makes everyone better.
Pretty disgusted that Daka didn’t come on for a mostly anonymous Vardy in the second half.

It's clear when our midfield is struggling, our forwards need to come back deep, Nacho does that and we get a goal

Cannot wait to get some defensive depth back in to this team

Brendan likes having his centre halves starting the play from the back - big crossfield passes to the wingers/overlapping full backs or passes through the lines in the middle helping to break the block

Having Amartey (who doesn't pass well) and Cags (who is a bombscare without an experienced partner) really nullifies how we play

I am sure once Vestergaard and Jonny are back and we have some more options available to us and Cags can have someone a bit more experienced next to him the attacking and progressive play will be better

The problem is I’m not sure Evans is going to be back. And if he is, he will get injured again shortly afterwards.

This injury situation is dire and could even get worse. The squad is just made of glass!

Agree with pretty much all of that. Not sure Gray is what we needed if we had replacements in our head but right now we have no like for like that he would be much more effective than how poor static Madders and Perez are! I’d instantly swap for Dimi Gray for them.

In regards to Barnes I agree, love the guy and think he can be a top top player but he doesn’t seem to have the same raw pace and quick control, just feels all flimsy atm and think in his facial expressions he feels he’s not quite right. Let’s hope he gets back to that match winning best with few more games!

Regards defence, yeah we need them back. Amartey did admirably today but we need Evans back and Vestergarrd as cover.

We spent all last season in the top 4 until the last week. If we have to come up on the rails this season and get in on the last day, so be it.

That was a painful watch. Totally in control in the first half but went in level.

Frustrating second half, super Marc’s super strike, a bit of luck  and clinging on at the end.

I’ll take the three points but that was Leicester just being Leicester.

Very lucky, their 2nd offside yes but yet again terrible defending.

why go zonal?

just go man to man = responsibility and stops them having a run on the ball.

Zonal marking is shit.

Not sure we deserved to win, not sure we deserved to lose. Norwich didn’t do enough to deserve to win so the result was probably about right. Just hope Brendan ditched this 4-2-3-1 or changes players because today’s  front four are just too lightweight.

6 points is a decent return and this pre International games/transfer window period is always a bit of a weird time anyway.

I have no doubt that come September when we have a few players back, our signings will have had more time to adjust and maybe a signing or two, our side and look and play completely differently.

onwards and upwards
